Story
Gower Street, London, 1882: Sidney Grice, London's most famous personal detective, is expecting a visitor. He drains his fifth pot of morning tea, and glances outside, where a young, plain woman picks her way between the piles of horse-dung towards his front door. Sidney Grice shudders. For heaven's sake - she is wearing brown shoes. The Mangle Street Murders is for those who like their crime original, atmospheric, and very, very funny.

Easy listening detective story

I enjoyed the book. I made for an easy listening. The only points which were a bit annoying was the constant effort put into by both male and female characters to remind us that back then men thought they were clever and women hopeless. Although true in effect I doubt men would spend so much time making the point and women taking every opportunity to set them right. This "modern"day attitude towards women's rights kind of killed the atmosphere at times

Story
Containing drafts of stories later rewritten for other collections (including Carry On, Jeeves), My Man Jeeves offers a fascinating insight into the genesis of comic literature’s most celebrated double-act. All the stories are set in New York, four of them featuring Jeeves and Wooster themselves; the rest concerning Reggie Pepper, an earlier version of Bertie.

Story
Take a funny and illuminating tour of the female body with award-winning comedian Sara Pascoe. Women have so much going on, what with boobs and jealousy and menstruating and broodiness and sex and infidelity and pubes and wombs and jobs and memories and emotions and the past and the future and themselves and each other. Here's a book that deals with all of it. Sara Pascoe has joked about femininity and sexuality on stage and screen, but now she has a book to talk about it all for a bit longer.

you 'd think that being 35 and a woman you know most of what relates to women's body or behaviour... think again! Once I started listening I couldn't stop. The book is enjoyable and extra bonus you get to learn a few things about your body and why you behave the way you behave or feel the way you feel. Especially towards the end I had to stoo a few times to think things through and find where I stand on some points. Totally recomend it.

A quirky, entertaining and thought-provoking tour of the unexpected connections between words, read by Simon Shepherd. What is the actual connection between disgruntled and gruntled? What links church organs to organised crime, California to the Caliphate, or brackets to codpieces? The Etymologicon springs from Mark Forsyth's Inky Fool blog on the strange connections between words.

I was absolutely hooked through out the book. The fun part was that I just couldn't resist pausing and "sharing" my "word-discoveries" with my husband, my best friend or my colleagues depending who was around

Story
As a child, Chris Hooper dreamed of monsters. But in deep space, he found only darkness and isolation. Then, on planet LV178, he and his fellow miners discovered a storm-scoured, sand-blasted hell - and trimonite, the hardest material known to man. When a shuttle crashes into the mining ship Marion, the miners learn that there was more than trimonite deep in the caverns. There was evil, hibernating and waiting for suitable prey.
