Good prose and well defined characters. The world building has some really interesting details and plot doesn’t go where you’d expect it to. Has a bit of a lull in the middle but it recovers and anyways, it’s read by Kobena Holdbrook-Smith, who could make your mother’s grocery list into compelling literature. Pretty daring all in all and definitely has a lot more care and craftsmanship put into it than your average fantasy yarn.

A bit dry

Great book, but the performance is so dry and kind of official sounding, there’s no emotion or natural intonation or dynamics in the reading of it so I kept losing the plot as I was listening . I find it more challenging to stay focused on this one than some audiobooks.
