Bless the narrator’s heart but…

I loved the story and the narrator, but if the read requires French, I think the narrator should either speak at least a little, or be able to imitate it AND the accent. His mispronunciation of French words was so very bad that it was distracting. “Voilà” became “Voy-LAY!” The accent sounded more German than French. Very unbelievable. I don’t mean to be high maintenance because he is one of my favorite narrators but the other narrator that reads several other books in this series is clearly a French speaker. He was able to demonstrate the character’s humor and personality.

The story was amazing. This author continues to amaze me with the complexity of her characters and the deep dives she does into very complex and emotional issues. When modern erotica is typically vapid and gratuitous, her books are emotional stories that use erotica to provide context and depth.

I almost never write reviews, but this is one of the most amateurish, pretentious book I have ever downloaded. If it weren’t free, I would request a refund. When the main male character reveals his plans, the heroine calls him “diabolical.” I laughed out loud. This is just so bad I’m struggling to get to the end of the first volume. Really, really bad. Unbelievable story. Underdeveloped, boring characters. Really, really bad. If you want hot and steamy I recommend Penelope Sky, willow winters or even JA Huss.

I have NEVER dropped a book before finishing it. I feel manipulated by this story for the purpose of turning what should be one book into a duet. I will not download the second book because I have genuine fear that I will have to sit through the tedium of listening to 2 narcissistic adults that act like kids. It’s not “angsty”. It’s irritating. I love her books but she really misses the mark with this one.

No steam, but great character/story development.

I happen to like this author, so I loved this story, but Audible put this in the “O-o-omg!” Category for steaminess. I was surprised and almost didn’t buy it but I’m glad I did. It was more than 10 hours in before they **ahem** consummate their relationship so there was plenty of time for great story and character development.
