Then one cool October morning in 1946, he rose early, drove into town, walked into the church, and calmly shot and killed the Reverend Dexter Bell.

Melancon is pronounced maw-lawn-sawn (the N is almost silent). Narrators that are not from the south, should do more research.

The storyline is really good. The author (being from MS) should have listed to the audio book prior to release. The narration was great, but anyone from MS will tell you that Biloxi is pronounced BA-LUCKSEE not BI-LOXEE.

There’s chaos in Hollywood at the end of the New Year’s Eve countdown. Working her graveyard shift, LAPD detective Renée Ballard waits out the traditional rain of lead as hundreds of revelers shoot their guns into the air. Only minutes after midnight, Ballard is called to a scene where a hardworking auto shop owner has been fatally hit by a bullet in the middle of a crowded street party.

Too much time was wasted with reference to Covid. It distracted from the story. The story line is good, but the constant mention of masks lessened the appeal for me.

Wow! Hated to finish this book.

Where does The Verdict rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It's one of the best I've listened to in a long time. The main character is very bright, but flawed. The cast is superb and the courtroom drama is fabulous. I'm hoping for a series, because I love the characters.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Yes, I especially liked the investigators and loved Christine. I thought I knew where the story was going, but got a real surprised as the book came to an end.
What does David Thorpe bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Oh.My.Goodness! He was fantastic. His range of voices and ability to duplicate them is unbelievable. His narration really enhanced the story line.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When Terrah (as Karen called him) found Fabia and started to figure out the conspiracy. I also enjoyed the dialogue between Terry and Karen.
Any additional comments?
This is a long book, but held my attention completely. I hated to put it down and stayed on the edge of my seat with the drama. I know not all good book have happyish ending, but the best description for the ending of this book is "poetic justice".

Where does Justice Redeemed rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It was slow at first, but the further I listened, the more addicted I became.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Justice Redeemed?
The way that life turned on a dime for Darren Street. He dropped from hero to zero overnight.
Which scene was your favorite?
Of course at the end when justice was served on a truly horrible character.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Yes, I thoroughly enjoyed it and the ending was believable. I hate fairy tale endings.
Any additional comments?
I never knew the term "shot caller" was prison slang. I could definitely see this book being made in to a movie.
