True Blood Wannabe
Reviewed: 10-03-24
It's like a bad True Blood fan fiction with an underdeveloped and predictable plot. The main character is annoying, self obsessed, and immature. She's written as a petulant child who everyone is obsessed with despite having few redeeming qualities. She and the main male role predictably fall for each other and his script is maddeningly dull. He reads as a 90s Hot Topic mall rat worth a big ego and no game.
The story also has a "I'm not homophobic" scene that did not convince me that the character/ author is not homophobic. The phrasing was definitely off. I also hate the use of the "R" word two times in the story. I'm shocked that was published.
I'm so glad I didn't pay for this book. Please don't waste your time.

One of the best listens

I absolutely loved the sincerity, humility, and positivity of this performance. It really felt like a conversation with a man who wanted to make a positive impact on an industry that is constantly looked down upon. He wants to give hope to the hopeless. Love to the unloved. He wants to make a difference. I have so much respect for the fact that he survived a literal war because of the respect he gave and respect he earned. My only complaint is I wish this audio was at least 10 times longer.

Story
I'm Bree, and I see dead people. Not all dead people. Only those with unfinished business. They're everywhere—I'll be eating my breakfast, and a poisoned heiress glares over my Cheerios. I've returned to my hometown of Grimdale to cat-sit for my parents while I plan my next move. I'm looking forward to raiding their fridge, hanging out with their two kittens, and staying far, far away from anything supernatural. But I forgot that I'm never alone in Grimdale. The three ghosts I used to play with as a kid are back in my life again. Only now I'm their age, and they're infuriatingly attractive.

Liked, but not loved

Overall, I liked the story. I've listened to a few books by this author and I like the universe she's created. But I wasn't a fan of the male accents. They were exaggerated and grating and took away some of the likeability for the characters.
