Story
Callis Rose is a girl blessed with a gift from above or cursed with a ruthless power she barely understands; it's really just a matter of degrees. As her family life is turned asunder she is thrown into an indifferent Social Services program where she defends herself the only way she knows how. Callis is moved from home to home until she finally settles at the Lowries. As she starts her first day of high school she meets both her favorite and least favorite person. Both happen to be part of the same household.

Story
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

An Awesome Novel
Reviewed: 04-22-24
Where do I start, I have been a Stephen King reader for several decades. There have been many of his books I have consumed over thst time whivh I have loved and revisited from time to time. This is one that has captured my imagination and heart as Carrie, The Dark Tower series, The Stand among others. It's a rich story that immediately pulls you in and holds your attention throughout. I have often marvelled at his ability to put his dreams and ideas to paper or computer as freely and creatively as he does. To say his has a fan for life does neither him or his works justiice. Thank you for this and all your other works, I eagerly await the next one.

I applaud the author and the narrator for doing an awesome job. I highly recommend this reader to anyone looking for a change of pace and a realistic story.

Story
Virgil knows the town of Trippton, Minnesota, a little too well. A few years back, he investigated the corrupt - and, as it turned out, homicidal - local school board, and now the town's back in view with more alarming news: A woman's been found dead, frozen in a block of ice. There's a possibility that it might be connected to a high school class of 20 years ago that has a midwinter reunion coming up, and so, wrapping his coat a little tighter, Virgil begins to dig into 20 years' worth of traumas, feuds, and bad blood.

During his late-night walks, he observes some strange things going on in Derry, Maine. He sees colored ribbons streaming from people's heads, two strange little men wandering around town after dark, and more.
