Story
The enemy is no longer hidden in the dark but instead operates in broad daylight. Its attacks on Americans are clear and intensifying: cancel culture, wokeness, public shaming, urban violence, “whiteness”, and critical race theory. The enemy also seeks to undermine the sacredness of human life. This enemy is called the Desecrators. In this powerfully provocative book, Deal W. Hudson and Matt Schlapp provide firsthand accounts of the Desecrators’ actions and intentions, including their angry and uncharitable treatment of President Donald Trump.

Interesting, suspenseful, and descriptive in a way only he can write. But the heavy unrelenting introspection weighs the book down and seems to verge on the autobiographical. Nevertheless, the warning against evil is well taken if not as deftly inserted as one might have come to expect. Still, it's better than most other authors' best. James Lee Burke is still the master.

But today's conflict is only the latest in a long history of battles over Ukraine's existence as a sovereign nation. As award-winning historian Serhii Plokhy argues in The Gates of Europe, we must examine Ukraine's past in order to understand its fraught present and likely future.

Well written overall picture, esp. useful for making sense of Ukraine's arrival at independence and its current state. My only quibble with the performance is the reader's pronunciation of the names of people and places, even fairly well-known ones, and being inconsistent with some of them. Surely, he must have had the opportunity to learn the correct pronunciations ahead of time?

Unnecessary music and sound effects throughout. Distracting. Music so loud sometimes that spoken words drowned out. Not all of the music is to everyone's taste. Too long stretches of too loud music at the start of each segment. Too bad because the subject is interesting and the message about water depletion (treated only in the last few sentences) important.

Good Cliffs Notes type of narrative of the queen's life and times, but the background sound effects were awful and a major distraction. Most of the time it was impossible to tell what the sounds were even with the narration for context.

Ms. Brown is clearly a woman of many talents, but reading is not one of them. The book would benefit if she did not sound as if she were running from an oncoming train. A slower pace might have allowed for more expression as well. Her story, while interesting, sounds too detached to draw the reader in.

Story
Scott Hartley first heard the terms fuzzy and techie while studying political science at Stanford University. If you majored in the humanities or social sciences, you were a fuzzy. If you majored in the computer sciences, you were a techie. This informal division has quietly found its way into a default assumption that has misled the business world for decades: that it's the techies who drive innovation.

Outstanding and very well documented relationship between the liberal arts and technology. Anyone who has concerns about robots, deep learning, and AI and the future of their children's education and the work force will find answers and reassurances in this book. Immensely informative, too, about what's happening in those areas today.
