Story
Luke Bennet isn't fighting alone anymore. The beautiful dwifkin Zea is stalwart by his side, and it's a good thing too. As if the battle-prone squirrel folk and otter-kin weren't enough, he's got mercenaries, bands of raiders, and a bloodthirsty inquisitor on his tail. All he wants is to get back his missing family. Can't a guy catch a break? To that end, Luke is honing his skills by battling all the beasts that get between him and completion of his mission. Still, he and Zea are both banking on a bloodline purification ritual to help them get to the God Machine.

Fourty hours, and only two of them with Ryoka.

I mean, if you're going to title a book after someone, it might behoove you to have them be pertinent to the plot. or present.
Yet another wonderful romp that honestly needs an editor to cut it way back. More than half the book is just wheel spinning and slice of life that's your thing, this is your book.

It's raining in Liscor. The spring rains have come and Liscor's entire geography changes with the dawning of the new year. The Floodplains of Liscor live up to their name, and the only way anyone is going to travel is by boat. With the rains come more monsters, dungeon delving, more goblins...not to mention some unwanted attention for the Wandering Inn.

would love if the plot actually moved instead of the constant circling back on itself and going nowhere. 30 hours is a lot of book to do nothing with.

I was suspicious when the first half of the book didn't even use the word pirate once. When it ended I was still waiting for anything at all to threaten the continuation of the plot.

Except Brody. He kicks ass.
Next book, please make interpersonal conflict matter. Zero effort was made to produce an actual antagonist the reader could see or understand. The Big Betrayel didnt even feel personal since it was committed by an offcamera mook who gets gibbed the instany hes found.
Booooo.
