I loved the performance and the story is so captivating that you can’t stop. I somehow missed that book growing up, and listening to it was in many ways better than watching the tv series

Story
When COVID-19 sweeps through New York City, Jamie Gray is stuck as a dead-end driver for food-delivery apps. That is, until Jamie makes a delivery to an old acquaintance, Tom, who works at what he calls “an animal rights organization”. Tom’s team needs a last-minute grunt to handle things on their next field visit. Jamie, eager to do anything, immediately signs on. What Tom doesn't tell Jamie is that the animals his team cares for are not here on Earth. Not our Earth, at at least. In an alternate dimension, dinosaur-like creatures named Kaiju roam a warm and human-free world.

Good one time listen, very light

The performance is great but the story is at times not believable and overall it is very light on science. Just an example, people in this book are running near intense nuclear radiation all the time and it is not quite obvious how they are protected and not dying from intense radiation poisoning.

I loved this story as a kid, and I read it under the title 'Tiger! Tiger!'. But somehow it felt much differently reading it as an adult, a bit dull and too borrowed from Duma's Monte Cristo. The audio performance is great though

Story
Every day of your life is spent surrounded by mysteries that involve what appear to be rather ordinary human behaviors. What makes you happy? Where did your personality come from? Why do you have trouble controlling certain behaviors? Why do you behave differently as an adult than you did as an adolescent?Since the start of recorded history, and probably even before, people have been interested in answering questions about why we behave the way we do.

Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Very soft sci-fi
Reviewed: 08-02-21
This is not a very serious reading, this is like a sci-fi adventure for teenagers (if you are a teenager, I mean no offence, it is just not my cup of tea). Very light on physics plausibility, throwing things like 10 times faster than light easily. It is a short book, and I guess it was supposed to catch my attention and make me want to read the next one, but I say ‘meh’ and am going to excuse myself ;)

Factfulness: The stress-reducing habit of carrying only opinions for which you have strong supporting facts. When asked simple questions about global trends - why the world's population is increasing; how many young women go to school; how many of us live in poverty - we systematically get the answers wrong. So wrong that a chimpanzee choosing answers at random will consistently outguess journalists, Nobel laureates, and investment bankers.

This is such an important book to read! I just wish that every person who expresses opinions publicly, based on the news / public media, would first read it. This is an incredible work by an amazing person. Too bad Hans Rosling died barely finishing this book but great that he spent his last year writing it.
