Story
In Bones on Ice, forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan gets wrapped up in the ultimate cold case: a death on Mount Everest. It is called the “death zone”: the point on Everest, nearly five miles high, above which a climber cannot be rescued. More than 250 souls have lost their lives there. Most of the bodies remain, abandoned, frozen in place. When an earthquake leads to a miraculous recovery, Dr. Temperance Brennan is hired to identify the frozen mummified human corpse.

Story
Special Agent Pendergast arrives at an exclusive Colorado ski resort to rescue his protégée, Corrie Swanson, from serious trouble with the law. His sudden appearance coincides with the first attack of a murderous arsonist who - with brutal precision - begins burning down multimillion-dollar mansions with the families locked inside. After springing Corrie from jail, Pendergast learns she made a discovery while examining the bones of several miners who were killed 150 years earlier by a rogue grizzly bear.

Mikael Blomkvist is trying to reach Lisbeth Salander—the fierce, unstoppable girl with the dragon tattoo. He needs her help unraveling the identity of a man who died with Blomkvist's phone number in his pocket—a man who does not exist in any official records and whose garbled last words hinted at knowledge that would be dangerous to important people. But Lisbeth has disappeared. She's sold her apartment in Stockholm. She's gone dark. She's told no one where she is. And no one is aware that at long last she's got her primal enemy, her twin sister, Camilla, squarely in her sights.

We expect a storyline that at least centers around Lisbeth. She is barely in this book! If they worked together on cases it could be so interesting. I was over the sister thing in last book.

Story
The FBI says it’s terrorism, but the whispers on the street tell a different story. They say a serial killer is stalking American women in Asia. Singapore CID assigns the case to Inspector Samuel Tay. Tay is something of a reluctant policeman. He’s a little overweight, a little lonely, a little cranky, and he smokes way too much. Thinking back, he can’t even remember why he became a police detective in the first place. But maybe none of that really matters, because he’s very, very good at what he does.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I have sent several emails to friends and family about all of Jake Needham's work. I tell them to read the books and listen at the same time.
What other book might you compare The Ambassador's Wife to and why?
I prefer to let a book stand on it's own merit. If it is too much like other books, then what's the point? I love original work and thought processes. Jake gives us an exotic location, with all its warts, and not only do we learn something, we get entertained as well.
Which character – as performed by Steve Marvel – was your favorite?
Inspector Samuel Tay seems a timid man, who smokes like a chimney, eats too much and can be very cantankerous but he goes through the facts of the case in a unique way. I adore this character as he cares about discovering every aspect of the crime committed. I want more Tay.
Any additional comments?
Don't be afraid to buy this book. I have read twice and also bought this audio. Enjoy the story. You can visualize the location, feel the heat and walk in Inspector Tay's shoes as he solves the case. BUY all his books and audios, you will not be sorry, THIS IS A CHARACTER WHO IS REAL, a police procedural, and what steps must be taken to actually solve a crime.

Story
The first bomb cracked the Hilton like an egg. The second gutted the lobby of the Marriott. And the third peeled the front off of the Grand Hyatt. Three massive explosions, all at American hotels in the heart of the city, and all within a few horrifying seconds. Hundreds are dead and thousands are injured. Singapore is bleeding. Inspector Samuel Tay is a senior inspector in the Special Investigation Section of Singapore CID, but he is frozen out of the investigation from the beginning.

If you could sum up The Umbrella Man: An Inspector Samuel Tay Novel in three words, what would they be?
Complex, fascinating, refreshing
Who was your favorite character and why?
Inspector Tay, with a few flaws, which makes his character so interesting. I can see him so clearly, addicted to cigarettes which most of us hate, always thinking, a very clever fellow, I found him fascinating and loved his approach to detection of crime. He seems shy but this is a man who adheres to respect, tradition, and honor. He does things his way and don't get in his face because he's going around you.
What does Steve Marvel bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I loved this narrator, he did an excellent job. He put a voice to a character that I love and gave him life.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
This is a thinking man's or women's book. You don't slide thru with nonstop car chases or violence, it is a tale of intrigue, where you actually have to engage your brain and follow our detective through the process and in an exotic location as well.
Any additional comments?
Jake Needham is one of my favorite writers, I have bought all of his books and the four new audible. Wonderful locations, complex plots, and a dry humorous detective.
