Story
In Stoops's journey from player to struggling graduate assistant to legendary head coach, it becomes clear that his dedication to football is about far more than the sport itself. Big Game Bob, as he is known by adorning Sooners, made a name for himself not only by rebuilding the OU football program and leading the team to multiple conference championships but also by adhering to a strong set of principles at a time when corruption was rampant across the NCAA.

This is far more than a Coach’s story. The lessons for life and real world situations shared are moving. You’ll laugh, cry, and feel a deep understanding of what is really important.
Thank you, coach!

Story
When Mitch Landrieu addressed the people of New Orleans in May 2017 about his decision to take down four Confederate monuments, including the statue of Robert E. Lee, he struck a nerve nationally, and his speech has now been heard or seen by millions across the country. In his first book, Mayor Landrieu discusses his personal journey on race as well as the path he took to making the decision to remove the monuments, tackles the broader history of slavery, race and institutional inequities that still bedevil America, and traces his personal relationship to this history.

A story that should have been told long ago.

Born in 1970, I've lived my entire life in Oklahoma. It is unconscionable that this story wasn't researched and told, in detail, during our high school Oklahoma History courses. Thank you, David Grann, for committing the time and labor necessary to tell this story. The choice of three narrators for the three perspectives was impeccable.
If you are an American, this should be required reading.

Story
Setting aside the magic and superstition found in much of traditional religious life and affirming an evidence-based approach to faith, author Roger Ray strives to apply Wiesel's injunction to actively respond to the injustice, violence, and discrimination in the world. In concrete terms, Ray describes what progressives can embrace intellectually and morally, and how those convictions can be lived out in a faith community.

Passion, logic and a call to action to increase social justice.
I recommend this book to anyone who claims to have religion, as well as those who have left the church due to intolerance.
