I was disappointed as I like the original. I found the narrative and all the additional sound effects very distracting.

Not for serious dog owners
Reviewed: 09-23-22
If you are a serious dog owner this book isn't for you. It is neither uplifting nor inspiring. Some parts are good but the storyline varies too much.

Story
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

Humourous and Real

I loved this book and the fact that Matthew narrated it. It was comical while giving food for thought on the priorities of life. it was just want I needed for myself.

Story
>When South African conservationist Lawrence Anthony was asked to accept a herd of "rogue" wild elephants on his Thula Thula game reserve in Zululand, his common sense told him to refuse. But he was the herd's last chance of survival: they would be killed if he wouldn't take them. In order to save their lives, Anthony took them in. In the years that followed he became a part of their family. And as he battled to create a bond with the elephants, he came to realize that they had a great deal to teach him about life, loyalty, and freedom.

This book engages the reader from start to finish! the beauty of the animal human bond is expressed in a heartwarming tale in the African bush. it examples how little we actually understand as humans and what little credit we give to animal intelec and intelegengce. This book will warm your heart and make you take more notice and awareness to conservation and it's importantance.

Story
Flight technician Frank Williams and Judy, a purebred pointer, met in the most unlikely of places: a World War II internment camp in the Pacific. Judy was a fiercely loyal dog, with a keen sense for who was friend and who was foe, and the pair's relationship deepened throughout their captivity. When the prisoners suffered beatings, Judy would repeatedly risk her life to intervene.

What a wonderful story of endearment, endurance, and resilience! Judy was a one of a kind companion. The story inspired me to not ever take day to day life for granted. I often was in awe at what both the human and canine spirit can endure when love and loyalty entwines them.

Story
In the heart of America, a metropolis is quietly destroying itself. Detroit, once the richest city in the nation, is now its poorest. Once the vanguard of America’s machine age - mass production, automobiles, and blue-collar jobs - Detroit is now America’s capital for unemployment, illiteracy, foreclosure, and dropouts. With the steel-eyed reportage that has become his trademark and the righteous indignation that only a native son can possess, journalist Charlie LeDuff sets out to uncover what has brought low this once-vibrant city, his city.
