Story
Sometimes, survival depends on not being seen. I should know. That’s the only way I’ve survived. Getting accepted into a prestigious university was my chance at freedom; to escape and live without fear and resentment. And with no emotional attachments - or at least that was the plan. Until I see Egan. He’s sexy, mysterious, and has muscles in all the right places. He invokes feelings I don’t want or understand.

I think this book would have been a lot more successful as a first person point of view. It’s often hard to follow why the MC makes strange decisions and the narrator just blames everything on her upbringing. There is also just a lot of activity in the book that is at best cringeworthy and can give the sense of emotional whiplash. The book is pretty predictable and everything falls into place a bit too easily for me. I’m not a book quitter, but this might be an exception for me.

I thought I was ordinary Rory Franco: college student, artist, and over-protected daughter. Then, mages barge into my family’s home, murder my parents, and whisk me off to a university known as Villain Academy. It turns out I’m Persephone Bloodstone, the long lost heir to one of the five royal families of dark magic. I’m destined to learn how to manipulate the world with fear - and to stand beside the four other scions: the scorching-hot, arrogant young men who rule this school. The four of them crush anyone who doesn’t kowtow.

I was really hoping for more redeeming qualities in the male characters, but sadly this is a book about 4 boys slowing breaking a girl and it can be hard to listen to at times.

I wanted to like this book, but there was NO character development. It was as if all the characters were interchangeable. That all spoke the same and had similar personalities. Also, the book got pretty repetitive with re explaining events and thoughts.

I love this book don’t get me wrong, it was very well written and the narrator is amazing. But, if you have a strong aversion to rape- this is not the book for you. The scene isn’t described in great detail, but it may be enough to dissuaded some readers.

For years I've been quiet, obedient Rose Hallowell. I accepted the man my stepmother chose for me. But I never stopped missing my long-ago friends. Now we're back on my childhood estate to arrange my marriage. The boys I grew up with? They're still in town - and they haven't forgotten me either. And damn if they haven't grown up well. They're charming and sweet and infuriatingly hot, and I can't seem to stay away. The more I try to resist, the more secrets I uncover about my family, my betrothal, and everything I thought was true about the witching world. I've been lied to. I've been betrayed.

I LOVE reverse harem novels, but I definitely feel like there is something missing with this book. The author constantly refers to Rose’s past with the boys, but never gives any real detail. I kept waiting for a flashback that never came. I felt like I was expected to understand a relationship dynamic that was never fully explained.

Panic: a story of adventure and love (kinda)
Reviewed: 05-09-14
What made the experience of listening to Panic the most enjoyable?
The storyline is incredible! The book itself was well written and interesting with plot twist and new discoveries, over all really amazing.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Panic?
Of course each of the panic games were memorable in their own way but I would say the most memorable moment came when I found out who the game makers were... Needless to say I did not see that coming.
Did Sarah Drew do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
I guess she did an okay job differentiating the characters but I found her voice to be rather annoying at times.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No extreme reaction this time.
Any additional comments?
Book was good narration iffy at best.
