Another Book to Climb a Mountain While Listening To
Reviewed: 04-16-24
If I wanted this review to be good, I’d write Larry Correia to write it. I don’t understand how these characters keep getting more entertaining but they do. The combat is drastically different than the Monster Hunter series because of the different weapons but still gripping. I’m only angry that I got suckered into reading this before the next book was ready, rookie mistake.

Story
I read each letter slowly to make sure I understand it perfectly, one day very soon it will be a matter of life and death.... At the end of each letter, after signing her name, there is always one final sentence: Don’t forget to burn this letter. I’ll let you decide if I do....

SO Predictable
Reviewed: 04-16-19
I honestly knew from about an hour in how the story was going to end. It was so obvious in the minor, random details laid out by the author... It was all just done in a completely predictable way. I really just wanted to skip to the end to see if my prediction was right, but it was so obvious that it was that I didn’t bother. I did complete the book because I hate leaving books unfinished, but I don’t recommend it to anyone. Save your money/credit! No idea how this got put in the psychological suspense category or how it was labeled “absolutely gripping.” It was just a bunch of family drama.
The narrator was lovely, though. I quite enjoyed her performance. It make the story listenable.

Story
For decades, American administrations have forced our military to be neutered in many respects - hampered by restrained rules of engagement, passed in strength by Russia and China, and tested by rogue nations like North Korea and Iran. As a result, nuclear Armageddon hangs over us like a mighty sword. Military analysts agree that the United States can't start World War III. Why? We might lose. Sabers are rattling, and the war of words escalate between America and her enemies....

The preping part of it was cool, but the dialogue was stiif and cheese. I could not imagine real people talking lot that at all.
