The Change up that fell flat
Reviewed: 12-31-24
What a boring ending to what could have been the GOAT. I just can't believe how some of my favorite characters of all time / across all book series, turned into boring losers. I actually had to increase the speed to 1.8x on some of the MAIN CHARACTERS, because I simply couldn't wait for it to end. Holy smokes man, I get people can get depression or mental illnesses, but dragging it out in an entertainment novel for 100 hours across multiple books? Yikes. If book 1 - 3 felt like this, I would have been quick to DNF. Being the last book of the "arc", I felt like I needed to finish. I highly doubt I will continue this. Next couple of books will be spark notes.

First half 1/5 Second half 4/5
Reviewed: 09-20-23
First half of the book I put the speed on x2.0 even x2.5 at parts. Holy waste of time. I was almost going to stop reading and drop the series entirely until they finished with the Dungeon and moved on. The second half was back to the amazing story i enjoyed, but i noticed that although I was enjoying it, there was no moving forward on plot points. leveling up someone isn't progression of a story, you can just state that they got more powerful. The actual plots went no where. This book can be summed up in terms of plot like this: they finish dungeon, they connect to the new earth zone, there is some tension between the zones, Randidly levels up and transforms his skills and class.
I mean yikes. I even bought this on preorder with excitement. Instead, this author suffers from "the first defiers" author's problem. All action scenes, system explanations, and stat screens with little to no plot progression. Its okay for the first few books, but all series will fail if nothing happens.
I hope the next book will include a lot of significant progress on Earth before Randidly goes to the other world, I hope when he goes there is enough going on that the next book doesn't "end' with him just leveling up and grinding again, I hope the next world doesn't draw out another tournament arc.., and I hope he comes back to the Earth within the same book to push the Earth plot forward again. If this series has another --nothing happens-- again, I will sadly just have to enjoy the first few books and move on.

This book was absolutely wonderful, some of the reviews made me pass this title a few times. After finally giving it a try, I am genuinely confused on what people expect in books sometimes. The worst part of "everyone is a reviewer" is the one star comments that bash the book because the plot didn't go the way they wanted it to.
This book-- while perhaps not the most amazing book ever written- was an absolute blast and a very fun read. I eagerly await the next! Thanks Mr. McCoy. I hope you pump these out quickly.

Love the book, just not a complete book
Reviewed: 02-14-21
If the length of this book was 40hours instead of 20 hours, I think it would have worked better. This book covers basically a week or two and leaves the MC in the same situation (more or less) as he was in at the end of the first book. A lot of comments are speaking about how much they hate the book, which I don't agree with. I loved this book, it just wasn't a full book. The first book at a beginning and a conclusion. This book and the next book will probably be able to be combined and it will feel like "book 2". I notice a lot of new authors do this with their "books", they basically just write a story until they get impatient or something and decide that was enough, sell the book, and continue writing the story like one long continuation.
Loved the story, why did it end there..... it wasn't even like a cliff hanger or something, it just ended and I had to double check that the book was over.

I'll be honest and say that the 3rd book threw me for a spin and that I did not like it at first. However after i accepted the new spin I read the third title again and found that I did enjoy it.
This book however, was wonderful. From start to finish I have come to expect how much Kel Kade and Nick weave a perfect story. Like the previous times. I simply cannot wait for the next book.

Ending?

This ending has me confused. Are there suppose to be more books coming out? Was the ended rushed? Why so many questions left unanswered...
For a series that has built up such a wonderful world, I almost feel robbed that the end was so sudden and unfulfilling. Hopefully 2019 will have some closure.
Overall I loved this book and this series. Definitely recommended for other high fantasy lovers to read.
Narrators grew on me and I feel like I disliked both of them at first, but now I would say that I "Like" them both.

If you do not like the graphic sex scences they are easy to skip over them. These four books are a masterful high fantasy experience. At the end of the 4th book I was blown away by how much I have grown to love them. At first I though the book was going to go through the same old story we have heard before with a Main character with a 2d personality. By the end of the series it was clear to me that I was wrong and I am glad I read them. VERY RECOMMENEDED.
The narrated was not bad at all, however I would definitely not say he was the best I have listened too. I will say the narrators grew on me as the books progressed.

If you just absolutely love the LitRPG genre than this book will be a decent read. The fight scenes drag on a lot, and progress for the plot is slow. However the author does wrap climaxes up well, and develops a lot of the characters pretty well so it was not all bad. I did find myself struggling to finish it however. I will keep the book tho and buy the next one "assuming it is the same story not like the 2nd book". It's just not something I am going to be super excited about.
Narration is fine. Luke Daniels does a good job.

What if anything you wrote became true? When an angry dwarf at a traveling carnival promises Roger something that could change his life, he never thought it would come in the form of a magic pen. Now, anything the introverted college student writes becomes true, and with its power, he'll finally be able to take revenge on the bullies who have tormented him. There's just one problem. A group of assassins will do anything to get the pen, he accidentally made a entire squad of dancers into slaves, and his best friend somehow got an all-powerful mech. Maybe that's three problems....

This book is has a lot of sex in it. This book has a lot of silly things happen, a shaky plot, and a lot of roll your eyes kind of dialogue. However, it IS a fun book if you are looking for that kind of stuff. The main character is OP and all the girls love him and he gets his way and... and ... and ... ... ..
I'll definitely be keeping this book to read again one day, but remember this is not a book for everyone.
