Story
Dillard Johnson was at the forefront of the 2003 invasion of Iraq. But surviving the enemy was only the beginning. Johnson would use the intensity, focus, and humor that kept him alive on the battlefield to fight stage three Hodgkin's Lymphoma. A man determined not to die, Johnson made a miraculous recovery - and then returned to Iraq for a second combat tour as an Army sniper. Funny and exciting, Carnivore offers fresh insight into the mind and heart of a warrior and offers a look at the lives of troops on the ground not seen before.

What a story. This guy had guts by the bucket load. Fast-paced, gripping and sometimes incredibly funny, this first-hand account of the Iraq war is a must read. This man truly loved his country and sacrificed much for another people to be free. Honor his sacrifice and that of all who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan by reading, or listening to, this book.

Story
From the authors of the New York Times best-selling The Heart of Everything That Is and Halsey's Typhoon comes the dramatic untold story of a daredevil bomber pilot and his misfit crew who fly their lone B-17 into the teeth of the Japanese Empire in 1943, engage in the longest dogfight in history, and change the momentum of the war in the Pacific - but not without making the ultimate sacrifice.

This is such an amazing story. The men of the "greatest generation" were not given this appellation without merit. The men described in this story, especially Jay Zeemer and Joe Karnowski, were rare specimens indeed, and in my opinion, men chosen by the Lord and prepared for this specific task. Everything that they had heretofore done in their lives prepared them for the awesome task that lay before them when they enlisted in the Army Air Corps. This story will leave you stunned and tearful. Do not pass it up.

Story
Near the end of World War II, thousands of Allied ex-POWs were abandoned to wander the war-torn Eastern Front. With no food, shelter, or supplies, they were an army of dying men. The Red Army had pushed the Nazis out of Russia. As they advanced across Poland, the prison camps of the Third Reich were discovered and liberated. In defiance of humanity, the freed Allied prisoners were discarded without aid.

An incredible story, well written, informative and thoroughly enjoyable. You'll learn more about the nature of WWII USSR in this book than in all your years of public education combined.

Story
When Navy SEAL Adam Brown woke up on March 17, 2010, he didn’t know he would die that night in the Hindu Kush Mountains of Afghanistan - but he was ready: In a letter to his children, not meant to be seen unless the worst happened, he wrote, "I’m not afraid of anything that might happen to me on this earth, because I know no matter what, nothing can take my spirit from me."

Exodus is an international publishing phenomenon - the towering novel of the 20th century's most dramatic geopolitical event. Leon Uris magnificently portrays the birth of a new nation in the midst of enemies - the beginning of an earthshaking struggle for power. Here is the tale that swept the world with its fury: the story of an American nurse, an Israeli freedom fighter caught up in a glorious, heartbreaking, triumphant era. this story and history is gut wrenchingly moving and all - consuming and mesmerizing. i first read this book on 1989 when i was a senior in high school. i couldn't put the book down til i finished it. it moved me to tears several times. I've wanted to re-read it for a while now, but didn't have the time. then i decided i would listen to the narration while i was at work. the narration was first class. i highly recommend it.
