I enjoyed the first book, which was set on Earth. The author doesn't seem to understand much, or doesn't give any regard to making the story plausible in space. I got through the whole thing and I'm disappointed. I'm not going to continue this series.

We learn a bit more about Ryon, but really no backstory. That's a bit disappointing. Instead we are taken into other timelines, and honestly, what do those matter except that Verik knows what to expect and knows what didn't work last time?
Overall, there seemed to be a lot of bickering and nonsense that wasn't needed.
I'll probably read the next book, but this has left me less excited about the series.

Story
A major North American hydroelectric dam is blown up and the largest off-shore oil field in this hemisphere is destroyed in a brutal, coordinated terrorist attack. But there was one factor that the terrorists didn't take into account when they struck the Capitana platform off the coast of Colombia—slaughtering much of the crew and blowing up the platform—and that was the Capitana crew chief Dewey Andreas. Dewey, former Army Ranger and Delta, survives the attack, rescuing as many of his men as possible. But the battle has just begun.

I'm new to Ben Coes and this is a fantastic first book. I would put this up there with Vince Flynn and even choose to Tom Clancy, though not as deep into technical details like Clancy.
The performance and story kept me engaged and I actually ended up listening more than I probably should have.... needing to see what happens next.
I definitely recommend Power Down and I'm grabbing the next book right now.

This is a blend of SciFi, Adventure, and Fantasy that will not leave you bored. For those of you used to traditional sci-fi, tell your brain to shut up and enjoy the story.
