Insightful listen despite heaviness

It is certainly not easy to date or live with / under a narcissist, but this book definitely gives you some help and hope with that sort of thing.

I found it to be a keen, empathetic, and understanding read. It seemed to define the ins and outs of narcissistic relationships in a way that most folks will relate to (which, in my opinion, makes it a no-brainer to keep reading / listening).

I don’t have a ton of technical knowledge on narcissistic behavior, so it was insightful to hear about concepts like PNSD (post narcissist stress disorder). I hope inclusions like that one will provide further clarity to those dealing with narcissists in their own lives.

Overall, it was definitely a book worth reading / listening to. Despite the heaviness of the subject matter, I certainly recommend it to those who are interested in or struggling with the topic.

This is a short audiobook that features the quotes and words of some of the most famous artists of all time. It’s a great way to get inspired, either for the purposes of creating your own art or just living in general.

One thing I really liked about this audiobook was that there were descriptions before each artist and his / her quotes; it’s not just one quote after another for the entire thing.

Many of the quotes are narrated with attempted accents as well. Kudos for the effort there. That made it more enjoyable. Check this one out if you’re looking for a little inspiration yourself.

Great Guide for Dads — new and existing

“First Time Father” is a helpful and fairly comprehensive guide to preparing for, birthing, and raising a new baby. It has a very down-to-earth approach that fills you with the wisdom needed to be the best dad you can be.

It starts by helping you create a vision for your child’s future, then dives into the brass tacks and difficulties of raising a newborn. The advice within it is nicely tailored for dads, which is a welcomed change for men (versus some of the more mom-focused books out there).

As this one shows, if we males can be supportive of our partners, take active roles in our children’s lives, and plan out all the associated expenses, we’ll inch ever closer toward building the familial bonds we’ve always dreamed of. That’s why I recommend it.

I often listen to books like these ones to help family members who are rising through the age department. Given the title, I figured it would be a simple collection of exercises for seniors. But it was actually much more than that.

The author is a thoughtful and experienced health care provider who understands and has a passion for the subject here. As such, she’s careful to provide lots of helpful descriptions and insights on the body, human health, and thriving, overall.

I really liked how the book started with those insights rather than just jumping into the exercises. They provided a lot of eye-opening moments that I’ll be sharing with family members. They also round the book out nicely and tie its contents together perfectly.

And, yes, then there are the exercises: those done while standing, in a chair, or with weights. It’s a wide range of activities that ensures there’s something here for each body type and physical ability. And for all of those reasons, I rate this one highly.

Another helpful resource for mental math

I grabbed a copy of the first book in this series and played it for a young family member who’s trying to improve his math skills. He enjoyed it, so, when I saw this one, I figured I’d grab it as well to keep things fresh for him.

It’s very similar to its predecessor, but instead of asking addition-based questions, it focuses on subtraction-related ones. It’s definitely a great and unique way to level up one’s mental math skills.

I think my only “word to the wise” is the same as in the last book: chapter one covers two-digit-based questions, while chapter two covers three-digit-based ones. For that reason, I think the first chapter is better for middle schoolers, and the second chapter is more well-suited for high schoolers.

Nice resource for budding math whizzes

This is a pretty simple audiobook, but I don’t mean that disparagingly. It features two chapters filled with mental math problems: one where listeners are asked to add two two-digit numbers and another where they’re asked to add two three-digit values.

I listened to this one with a family member who is in middle school and is aiming to sharpen his math skills. I thought the first chapter (with the two-digit numbers) was a better pace for him. The second chapter was more difficult, especially given that you’re not supposed to use paper to derive your answers.

But it’s definitely a good resource and way for kids to improve their math skills. I also think there are enough questions here that it wouldn’t get old after just one listen.

Endometriosis is a really challenging and painful illness — not that I know from experience, but I know someone who lives with it. Cohabitating with someone suffering from the disease can be quite difficult as well, as it places emotional and physical strains on the calendar and our relationships.

This audiobook provides many helpful tips for men affected (indirectly) by the condition. And, most importantly, it provides hope to those same people. It reminds affected men that a “normal” relationship is indeed possible, even if it will take a lot of patience and work.

The book also reminds us to cherish the small things in life. Endometriosis may bring pain and suffering into our lives and relationships, but it can’t take away our passion for life or the moments of joy we experience when we focus on connecting with the person/people in our lives affected by the disease.

It’s a helpful and compassionate listen and one that I recommend.

I’ve tried a lot of different methods for learning new languages, but never before today have I experimented with a language learning audiobook designed to be listened to while asleep!

I first digested the introductory material through my phone's speakers, then popped in my headphones and took a decently long nap. I think it’s still a little too early to tell whether I’m a German-whiz, but I enjoyed my time with this book nevertheless!

As the author states, studies show that we actually can learn languages in our sleep. So, with enough turns through, I think I’ll eventually have the material down and be able to speak a little German.

It’s definitely a helpful resource, and I give it a lot of credit for its fresh and creative approach!

I have a few older loved ones who could really use some of the wisdom in this audiobook. That’s why I picked it up; I figured I could help relay some of the advice here to them.

I though the book was really well-written. It comes from a compassionate place; the author knows how challenging it can be to get back into the dating scene at a slightly older age, and, as such, she weaves compassion and encouragement into each section.

I especially enjoyed how the book focused on the deeper parts of relationships: shared values, personality traits, and conversational skills — not just the physical. It also gives plenty of tactical advice for meeting new people, both online and in real life.

If you’re looking to get back into the dating world and are afraid to do it, this book is a great and comforting starting point. I know everyone I share its contents with will be pleased.

Sex is a complex and sometimes taboo subject. But this book seeks to make things less complicated and a bit easier to talk about. It covers everything from what sex is to all the different needs and desires we humans have — all of which can be safely satisfied by our partners.

The book also gets into the stumbling blocks when it comes to sex, including male body shame and the inability to perform or feel good enough in the bedroom. With this book’s explanations, readers can make more sense of any inadequacies they’ve felt or experienced and work through them a bit more readily.

Though this audiobook goes pretty in-depth at times, there’s definitely a bit here for all men. That’s why I recommend it, assuming it calls to you in the first place.
