Story
After nearly eighteen months at Basgiath War College, Violet Sorrengail knows there’s no more time for lessons. No more time for uncertainty. Because the battle has truly begun, and with enemies closing in from outside their walls and within their ranks, it’s impossible to know who to trust. Now Violet must journey beyond the failing Aretian wards to seek allies from unfamiliar lands to stand with Navarre. The trip will test every bit of her wit, luck, and strength, but she will do anything to save what she loves—her dragons, her family, her home, and him.

Story
The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

Strength, Survival and Sisters

This was a beautiful story of two very different sisters and their paths to fighting and surviving WWII. It was powerful to see them grow, as their individual personalities were not as enjoyable as their connection through watching each other grow and adapt to survive.

I hadn’t realized this was just an extended epilogue and insanely SHORT! if you want a super sugary and non conclusive glimpse of where the lives of your favorite characters went, then read this fluff. It’s sweet but I just want the next book. And don’t download the Court of Silver Flames without sampling the narrator, it’s another g-awful switch. You’d think with the popularity of this series they could do better than swapping narrators nearly every book.

Left me wanting more of less
Reviewed: 11-09-23
I really wanted to fall in love with this series, I’d heard such great things. But the main character is so stubborn and blind that she comes of naive and annoying. I loved some of the smaller characters, and will therefore give the next book a chance to see if there is more plot development. The lead character’s inner monologue was grueling at times, and made scenes play out stupidly long and leave the drama a bit flat. But I’m intrigued by the world being built.

Story
In a strange little home built into the branches of a grove of trees, live three robots—fatherly inventor android Giovanni Lawson, a pleasantly sadistic nurse machine, and a small vacuum desperate for love and attention. Victor Lawson, a human, lives there too. They’re a family, hidden and safe. The day Vic salvages and repairs an unfamiliar android labelled “HAP,” he learns of a shared dark past between Hap and Gio–a past spent hunting humans. When Hap unwittingly alerts robots from Gio’s former life to their whereabouts, the family is no longer hidden and safe.

Characters to Love!
Reviewed: 09-25-23
TJ Klune had captured yet another incredible set of characters! This was my first listen with this narrator, and I adored his voice. I don’t think the book would be as fun of a read without his pizazz. While I liked the message of the story, I felt it wasn’t that well paced, the journey was a bit annoying and under built- it felt too easy. It’s honestly not once of my favorite Klune stories, but I will continue to read everything he publishes!

Story
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Loved, loved, loved
Reviewed: 08-27-23
This is my first Rebecca Yarros novel, and I’m bitter to find out this is the first of five in the series, and desperately relieved the second comes out in Nov ‘23. I loved this novel from the first chapter, until the second to last. I honestly have no negative feedback other than the last chapter. If the male narrator returns in the second book, I would never buy to listen. The abrupt change was awful, and I deeply regretted the character change. I felt the female narrator had a broad scale of voices, and she was excellent at covering male, female and dragons. She was emotional, yes a bit breathy- but only do to passion and commitment to the story’s drama and adventure.

In the ruins of Caswell, Maine, Carter Bennett learned the truth of what had been right in front of him the entire time. And then it—he—was gone. Desperate for answers, Carter takes to the road, leaving family and the safety of his pack behind, all in the name of a man he only knows as a feral wolf. But therein lies the danger: wolves are pack animals, and the longer Carter is on his own, the more his mind slips toward the endless void of Omega insanity. But he pushes on, following the trail left by Gavin.

TJ Klune Builds a Pack
Reviewed: 08-15-23
After reading the House in the Cerulean Sea, and Behind the Whispering Door, I wanted to try another of TJ’s stories. He writes such magnificent characters and builds beautiful worlds to escape to. I was surprised and excited to find Wolf Song was the first in his series, and crushed the four books in less than 3 weeks. I will miss these characters, and highly recommend these books for anyone who loves a little werewolf saga.

Seven years later, Maya lives in Boston with a loving boyfriend and is kicking the secret addiction that has allowed her to cope with what happened years ago, the gaps in her memories, and the lost time that she can’t account for. But her past comes rushing back when she comes across a recent YouTube video in which a young woman suddenly keels over and dies in a diner while sitting across from none other than Frank.

Flips through time, to fizzle out
Reviewed: 05-03-23
I kept wanting this book to go somewhere. I enjoyed the main character and her past was intriguing, but it felt like tension was building to a perfectly normal, polite ending. The narrator was enjoyable, but it may be a better read on paper? It was hard to tell what timeline the chapters were on just off of the chapter cues.
