Story
Gavin Miller, the billionaire author of a best-selling thriller series, struggles with a grim secret: he hasn't written a word in more than a year. Writer's block is killing his spirit and jeopardizing his contracts with his publisher and his Hollywood producers. Prodded by his agent, Gavin reluctantly agrees to see Allie Nichols, a sassy physical therapist tasked with treating the novelist's severe neck and shoulder pain - and maybe his writer's block, too.

Horrible job with male voices
Reviewed: 03-16-18
Good series but this narrator does not do male voices wel, sometimes so hard to tell the male vs female voices. Kind of ruined the whole series for me.

Story
Like most humans, NYU student Mia Stalis knows little about the beautiful, mysterious invaders who’ve taken over Earth. Rumors about them abound: about their impossible strength and speed, their intentions toward Earth...their vampiric tendencies. None of it concerns Mia, though - until she catches Korum’s eye. Powerful and terrifyingly seductive, the Krinar leader will do anything to possess her - and no human law can stop him.

Lots of telling, not much showing
Reviewed: 02-24-18
What would have made Mia & Korum better?
The relationship between Korum & Mia didn't really work for me, There was a lot of telling of what they were to each other, but not a lot of showing. The scifi angle was more interesting to me than the romance. A bad sign in a romance novel. The story felt awkward, almost juvenile in style, despite the erotic nature of some of it. That said, the 2nd book got more interesting and a little less awkward.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Had good concepts, just not a fan of the writing style.

With a famous NHL player for a stepbrother, Violet Hall is well acquainted with the playboy reputation of many a hockey star. So of course she isn't interested in legendary team captain Alex Waters or his pretty, beat-up face and rock-hard six-pack abs. But when Alex inadvertently obliterates Violet's misapprehension regarding the inferior intellect of hockey players, he becomes much more than just a hot body with the face to match.

Creepy male narrator ruins it
Reviewed: 02-19-18
Any additional comments?
Female narrator does a great job with both roles, there was no need to have a male narrator at all, specially when he read with confusing accents and smarmy voice! Would have been a 5 star read otherwise.

What did you like best about Natural Law? What did you like least?
I picked this up on a recommendation from Kristen Ashley, a fave author. I knew it was to be a BDSM/erotica with an alpha-sub male, so I wasn't surprised by the BDSM heavy plot. That said, I didn't like the heroine that much. She seemed rather immature. Maybe the narration colored my impressions. I don't like the voices and didn't think the narration matched the style of the characters. Maybe I would have had a better experience if I read it instead of listened to audio.

Not my favorite - Too Breaking Dawn-ish
Reviewed: 12-03-16
If you’ve listened to books by Kristen Ashley before, how does this one compare?
This series really differs from her other books (tho I haven't read the Fantasyland series). But, this last book of the series just feels so over the top. There's not much build up to the relationship. The story focused more on the epic meet-up of all the couples. Then there's the tons of characters that just piles on. So yeah, a bit like Breaking Dawn if you're familiar with that book.
Any additional comments?
I miss characters like those in the Colorado, Magdalene and Rock Chick books. Please bring them back!

Great read/listen!
Reviewed: 10-15-16
Where does First Star I See Tonight rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
One of my faves, makes me want to revisit the Bears soon. The last couple of SEP books have been more misses than hits for me, but this one is a homerun. I really hope she writes more of this style.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I took this on a road trip so I was listening all in one sitting. 8hrs of driving whizzed by because Piper and Coop's snarky banter kept me so entertained. I realized how much I've missed this series and SEP's zany humor. Hot sparks and belly laughs all the way.
Any additional comments?
I realize Anna Fields has a lot of fans, and it's been awhile since I went through the Chicago Bears series, but personally, I thought Nicole Poole did a great job. She has a sexy voice and lively narration. I didn't have any issues keeping the male/female voices apart. She was one of the better narrators I've listened to so far.

Emotionally intense, romantic, HOT!
Reviewed: 09-06-16
Would you consider the audio edition of With Everything I Am to be better than the print version?
YES, the voices are each unique. Callum sounded properly Scottish and hot! Sonia didn't sound like a teenager. Stella Bloom should have done Lucien and Leah's story too.
What was one of the most memorable moments of With Everything I Am?
There was an intense moment towards the end that got to me. You'll know when you hear it. So well written, so well read!
Which scene was your favorite?
Too many to list, ,mostly the moments when Callum showed such tenderness and attachment to the 'human'.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
No idea, but I would have liked to see Sonia's black/white/gray house.
Any additional comments?
I'm not a fan of fantasy books and only picked up this series because I'm a big fan of KA. Book #1 was just ok and I almost did not want to read this one. The reviews here convinced me and so so glad I finally read it. Callum and Sonia's story is the best one yet. In fact, their emotional journey is now one of my favorite KA story line! I'm afraid to read Book #3. Not only because it will mean the end of this series, but also because reviews so far have been lukewarm. But I can't leave this group of characters hanging so I will finish this trilogy.

Too Much Like Twilight
Reviewed: 08-26-16
What did you like best about Until the Sun Falls from the Sky? What did you like least?
If I pretended h was 20 instead of 40, that H was a normal alpha, and Vampire Dominion didn't really exist, I can almost enjoy this KA story. There were too many mythical elements that reminded me of Twilight, and not in a good way.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
I'm not normally a big fan of fantasy. The mythology of the 3 and the prophecy just didn't gel for me.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
Voice took some time to get used to. I didn't like the breathy voice and cadence of her voice.
Was Until the Sun Falls from the Sky worth the listening time?
As it's KA, even this was worth listening to.

What was one of the most memorable moments of At Peace?
The fact that Cal/Joe calls Vi 'buddy' just irritated me all the way through. And he doesn't let me forget it either.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
I didn't like her Joe 'voice'. Sometime I get the male/female voices mixed up, specially when there's more than 2 characters in the scene. Narrator doesn't do voices well.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I love this series, but can't stand this narrator. She couldn't do the male voices justice. Chase didn't sound masculine enough. Sometimes the male and female voices sound so similar, it was so hard to tell them apart. Why did they change narrator in the middle of the series??
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Vanessa Caine?
Rebecca Estrella
