Story
Arwen Valondale never expected to be the brave one, offering her life to save her brother’s. Now she’s been taken prisoner by the most dangerous kingdom on the continent, and made to use her rare magical abilities to heal the soldiers of the vicious Onyx King. Arwen knows better than to face the ancient, wicked woods that surround the castle on her own, which means working with a fellow prisoner might be her only path to freedom. Unfortunately, he’s as infuriating as he is cunning—and seems to take twisted pleasure in playing on Arwen’s deepest fears.

Chapter 5 will update periodically. Finished!
Reviewed: 01-23-25
So I’m on chapter 5 and I can’t seem to understand why this female narrator is so soft spoken and monotone in some places. It seems that somewhat action pack she acts like it’s just nothing. There’s almost nearly no emotion to anything she says is beautiful Voice. It’s just not there for some of the action scenes. It’s really hard to get through the book right now and restart it four times. I’m sure the story is great but I cannot get past it and I feel bad that I wasted a credit on this. I might just buy the book out right. I will update as I go. if there’s any progress. I hate to DNR a book looks like it’s headed that way. Oh boy I got through this book by the grace of all the gods in the universe. This narrator has zero emotion on the really tense parts of the book. The story is super predictable and I felt no type of connection to any of the characters. I feel like the lack of a good narrator really missed the mark. However the story didn’t hit either. I’m sorry to say I will not continue the series.

Story
Paint your toes. Pick up the wrong coffee and bagel order. Drive from Brooklyn to Jersey in traffic so slow you want to tear your hair out. It’s amazing all the useless things I can accomplish while on hold for three hours with customer service. Three hours when I should be getting the Date-in-a-Box website ready to launch at the big business expo in a few days. Except my shiny new website is glitching, and my inner rage-monster is ready to scorch some earth...when he finally picks up. Not the robot voice I expected but a real live human named Kal.

Story
Kenna Heron is best known in her village for being a little wild—some say half feral—but she’ll need every ounce of that ferocity to survive captivity in the cruel Fae court. Trapped as a servant in the faeries’ underground kingdom of Mistei, Kenna must help her new mistress undertake six deadly trials, one for each branch of magic: Fire, Earth, Light, Void, Illusion, and Blood. If she succeeds, her mistress will gain immortality and become the heir to Earth House. If she doesn’t, the punishment is death—for both mistress and servant.

Story
Henry Bardot is a real estate mogul with a very healthy bank account, and a perfectly ordered life. He’s not interested in relationships. In his mind, they’re a waste of time and energy. As is anything fun. He simply doesn’t have time for such unnecessary things like smiling or laughing. He has work to do. Then, she literally crashes into him, kissing him without question, disrupting his precisely scheduled life.

narrator warning. I do not recommend this book
Reviewed: 03-29-24
I am only on chapter 7 and it's been an uphill battle trying to get through this book thus far. the female narrator I'm sorry to say is really bad. She sounds like she's AI generated there is no feeling to what she is saying, her speech pattern is odd and there is nearly no difference when she is taking on the dialogue of another character. Now on to the male narrator I am also not liking his approach to his character. His voice doesn't match the description of a deep graveling voice, he is so soft spoken which is fine just not for this book or character. the story is not all there, it's strange to randomly kiss someone without consent, that did not sit well with me. That in this day in age is completely out of line and ridiculous. I will finish the book mostly cause I used a credit lol and can't get that back. I'm so sorry but I do not recommend this book. I will update this post once I'm done with it.
