Story
This is the true crime best seller that was the basis for Martin Scorsese’s film masterpiece GoodFellas, which brought to life the violence, the excess, the families, the wives and girlfriends, the drugs, the payoffs, the paybacks, the jail time, and the Feds...with Henry Hill’s crackling narration drawn straight out of Wiseguy and overseeing all the unforgettable action.

Absolutely fabulous book
Reviewed: 04-15-22
If you haven’t read this or seen the movie, I suggest both. I absolutely love the early wise guy era, prohibition and early Mafia history. I remember reading the Absolutely Everything Mafia book when I was five and still cherish the stories very much. Henry Hill’s story remind me so much of these ideals. Still in my top five to this day. 10/10 definitely suggested.

There should be more. I do know there are other books (I have the entire series on my nook), it’s just hard to read a book while you’re working. I always come across these amazing novels and then find out I only get a piece of the candy bar, so to speak.
That being the case, this book is an absolute gem. It took me a while to find it again but was worth the hours of googling. The narration is phenomenal. I love Mrs. Rose’s guy voice interpretation; she did such a phenomenal job that I actually looked forward to her parts. Definitely worth it 100%. Love me a good MC romance.

The handsome son of wealthy parents, Connor has everything anyone could want...except his family's love and affection. Jailed for years after killing his mother's child-molesting boyfriend, Tony is confused about his sexuality. Manic-depressive Vanessa cuts herself. All three stories intertwine in a brutally honest story about pain and resilience.

Connor’s story always gets me. As a mom I just can’t get over how a parent could be so calloused towards their child, but I realize it happens a lot. It’s important to recognize success no matter how small.

Story
In the predawn hours of March 4, 2002, just below the 10,000-foot peak of a mountain in eastern Afghanistan, a fierce battle raged. Outnumbered by Al Qaeda fighters, Air Force Combat Controller John Chapman and a handful of SEALs struggled to take the summit in a desperate bid to find a lost teammate. Chapman, leading the charge, was gravely wounded in the initial assault. Believing he was dead, his SEAL leader ordered a retreat. Chapman regained consciousness, alone with the enemy closing in on three sides, beginning the most difficult and exceptional fight of his life.

You really can’t judge this book by the comments; everyone is biased in their own ways and entitled to opinions. For me, this was worth the listen, and it all started with the YouTube video that shows John Chapman in action. Worth the listen, the feelings, and the intensity that comes with it. My husband is military so I have nothing but 100% respect for individuals who are such, no matter the rank or position.

"I believe there is another man inside every man, a stranger...." writes Wilfred Leland James in the early pages of the riveting confession that makes up "1922", the first in this pitch-black quartet of mesmerizing tales from Stephen King. For James, that stranger is awakened when his wife, Arlette, proposes selling off the family homestead and moving to Omaha, setting in motion a gruesome train of murder and madness.

I recently started listening to these while I work. The price is a little steep but for King's work, it didn't matter to me. This is one of my favorites. I've read the book several times and was so excited to have it read to me. King will always be the literary jam for me.
