Story
Bree Matthews is alone. She exiled herself from the Legendborn Order, cut her ancestral connections, and turned away from the friends who can’t understand the impossible cost of her powers. This is the only way to keep herself—and those she loves—safe. But Bree’s decision has come with a terrible price: an unbreakable bargain with the Shadow King himself, a shapeshifter who can move between humanity, the demon underworld, and the Legendborn secret society.

Story
His pockets were stuffed, and his accounts were limitless, affording him luxuries that not everyone had when it came to me. He didn't flinch at the notion that he had to pay to play. It enticed him. That was my type. He was my type. But he knew no boundaries. His quest commenced the second our eyes met, my body hypnotizing him and everyone else in the room around us. He was as confident as he was persistent, tireless in his efforts to retrieve the one part of me that I'd buried for safekeeping. And, once he had it in his grasp, like every other man I'd shamefully given it to, he crushed it.

Well it was free and I was searching for a good story to listen to. Yes it's a good story first off but some of the language is really something I only hear on TV..... white sitcoms & reality TV of course. I usually love African folklore with magic & lessons and the like. This story was surprisingly good and kept me interested. I rarely ever hear cock & cunt in my everyday life & hearing those 2 words being used in the same sentence is funny. My hubs got a few text that we will laugh about later. The image of Isa is my head wether I like it or not.
Takeaway is.... Good story & good voice actors that bring the story to life.

it's predictable but still pretty interesting. if you're most & dramatic you'd still enjoy this story. the main character reminds me of my 16yr old god daughter just young and naive and learning how the world works, while the princess is a crazy psychotic witch with a b. either way I'm fine & off to listen to the second book

This was such a a great story. I'm glad I finally got it this was such a a great story. I can't wait to get into the second book. I enjoyed the twist and turns of this story..... it kinda reminded me of Game of thrones but it's way better than Game of Thrones. I love listening to Ms. Abbott-Pratt she great at changing her voice to fit each character & of course delivers a great performance.

I know this book just came out and I have already finished it, but where is book 3 cuz I got to know what happens next. I guess I will just have to go back and listen to both of them again but again where is book 3 at?
Seriously, Tracey Deon has done an amazing job with intertwining and weaving stories together. Joneice Abbott Pratt really had me thinking it was somebody else reading the story she can make her voice really sound like somebody else. she did an amazing job reading a book and bringing it to life.
Also seriously when is book 3 coming out?

this story is ..... so many twists and turns..... WOW
Ms Abbott-Pratt does an amazing job at bringing the characters to life the way the author describes them. Tracy Deon made me realize I saw my mom the same way Bre saw her mom. I realized that for the longest time I focused on my mommy's death (working on it) instead of her life and her love just like Bre. I thought it would have taken me way longer to finish this book but it's only been a couple of days. I drive for work 🤷🏿♀️ so it's been no time at all. The story itself is very well written and thought out. It does partially remind me of another story but not all of it. I'm ready for the next book to drop.

Story
In my book, you will meet a little girl named Viola who ran from her past until she made a life-changing decision to stop running forever. This is my story, from a crumbling apartment in Central Falls, Rhode Island, to the stage in New York City, and beyond. This is the path I took to finding my purpose but also my voice in a world that didn’t always see me.

I have watched this beautiful lady most of my life. I have always admired her work. Her giving this glimpse into her life was very appreciated. Since she don't do many interviews and her childhood is never brought up. Now I knew I was poor as a kid but not like that.....did come close....but dang. The things she talks about were parallel to my own experience. The more I speak to other females, the more that I find out that molestation either happened and they didn't think that it was what it was or it happened and they knew what it was but couldn't tell /have someone to believe them. Apparently it happens more than you'd think. This book was a very good listen. Me personally, as a kid I never had a BF similar to her. But unlike her I had F-boys that wouldn't dare say publicly that I was their GF. Young me didn't really know what love was sorta like her. So this book will make you do some reflection of your life. Still a good listen.
