I've read all of his books, and I'm never not entertained. His prose is friendly, his details aren't too much, but just enough, and the cultural references he throws in are not only entertaining but pertinent to the story. His sense of humour comes out at times as well. It's a joy to read, and I'd recommend this to anyone with even a light interest in the 70s or American politics and world issues.

One of the better narrators I've heard in my 20 years as an Audible customer. Highly recommended, all of his books.

FABULOUS. I cannot express enough how great this book is. It's an EXPERIENCE. Listened 3 times now, and each listen I discover something new.
It's not political, so much as it just plays out in a way that you can make your own decisions, and your own conclusions.
As far as books in the war, it's up there with BAND OF BROTHERS, FORGOTTEN SOLDIER, and TEARS IN THE DARKNESS.

If you are a fan of ACDC then you know of Bon Scott. But do you really know the inside story? This book tells all. At the most pivotal time in the band's history, it's time we know the truth.

This is the book that the Young's don't want you to hear. Sorry, Angus.

This book is so disjointed, it takes an hour for the MC to have a few drinks and do some drugs... no joke. It goes on, and on, and on, and I found my concentration drifting away for minutes at a time, only to return to the story to find it's STILL on the same scene, noting having happened.

How many times this author can explain colours flashing before his eyes... I'll never know because this is an obvious RETURN. Thank you Audible and your Platinum Membership. I can't imagine being stuck with this paperweight.

The narrator is confident and does a fine job with the material he presents. I would listen to another book read by him.

The worst part of a book like this is finishing it and knowing it will be awhile before you find another of its' like.

With dark, intelligent humour, and what could be dozens of short stories all linked to a common goal, Poore weaves a tale spanning the ages, with our hero Milo only wanting to find his everlasting paradise with the grim reaper, Death, his girlfriend Suzie.
Filled with pop culture references, wit and charm, there aren't many books that I've found like this. In fact, it is now strongly in my top ten, or maybe top five.

Each chapter represents a new and vastly different life - from 5000 BC to the fourth millénium, in the far reaches of space, from being a tree, a turtle, murderr and a coloniser of planets. Each chapter is loaded with adventure, and definitely holds one's interest. In fact, as each chapter neared it's end, I was apprehensive and wished that that story-line could go on, but was always happy to follow Milo into the next stage of his journey through his multiple lives.

This book is highly recommended.

I have no idea how this ended up with such a low score here. It gets a 4.29 on Goodreads right now, and I cannot imagine the low score is John Lee's fault!

If you loved the other two then you will love this one.

WORST NARRATOR I'VE EVER HEARD!!!

OK, I know many of you will think you can suffer through the narrator because the story sounds so great, but please trust me --- you won't be able to. My library is vast ---- over a thousand audiobooks --- and this the very first time i have ever been urged to write a review based on an atrocious narrator. A few points:

--- he sounds like he should be doing a 1970 educational nature PBS doc.
--- I think Audible tried to improve it by adding in some sound effects and having the reader add in some laughs or chuckles, as they overlap slightly the actual words BUT
--- the laughs added in are actually LAUGHABLE they are that bad!!! Picture this: the narrator laughs aren't even laughs! They're the narrator just saying HA-ha-ha. Just like that. Not a laugh. Just three syllables. HA-ha-ha. If you can think of the musical scale "do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti-do", the "HA-ha-ha" would be, like, "TI-re-do". Here's an example:
... John chuckled quietly out of relief."HA-ha-ha. I'm really happy you're safe, HA-ha-ha," he said, smiling at Lisa. "HA-ha-ha, grab my hand and I'll help you up, HA-ha-ha."
---- it's very hard to concentrate on the story as his poor narration tended to baffle me and I found myself having to rewind
--- this is the WORST NARRATOR HANDS DOWN I HAVE EVER HEARD. PLEASE DO NOT BE LIKE ME AND OTHERS WHO THOUGHT WE COULD JUST BITE THE BULLET AND GET THROUGH IT TO BOOK TWO.
--- I can and have sat through some terrible readers because the story was that good. This story would have to be 'Lord of the Rings x1000 good' for me to sit through this. Actually, not even, because then I'd just buy the paper or e-book version.

I was very much excited about this book. The story seems way cool, but I'll just have to move on. If you still go through it, good luck!

AUDIBLE: !!! PLEASE - RE-DO THIS BOOK WITH A NEW NARRATOR! ANYONE! I'LL, EVEN DO IT FOR YOU !!! lol

While I was very interested in the subject matter, I found it difficult to finish due to a bland story progression, not unlike reading it out of the encyclopaedia.

I rarely read books that are full of God and devils and religion etc. but for some reason I thought I would give this a try. I thought it would be like a historical fiction novel, with some elements of fantasy. Not only was I right, but there was SO MUCH MORE TO IT that I didn't anticipate.
It doesn't disappoint. It has some pretty good humour buried in a top notch work of character building, and the plot leaves you twisting, cringing, and even cheering for the characters.
No joke, at one point I shouted out loud "hurry up, hurry up! Get out!" then I just slowly looked around to see my wife staring at me...
The narrator does a great job doing different voices and you're never left wondering who is saying what.
I wish I could give it away, but it's worth the time to get to the end. You'll never think of Hell in the same way. It haunted me... It stuck with me for years, and that's probably why I'm on my third reading of this book despite the hundreds of unread books in my Audible library.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. HIGHLY ORIGINAL AND I HAVEN'T FOUND ANYTHING ELSE LIKE THIS YET.

This story continues from book one. In fact, it not only improves on it, its even BETTER, if possible. If you read Suldren's Garden, don't stop there. You'll be quite pleased with this continuation.
