Story
In Killing Commendatore, a 30-something portrait painter in Tokyo is abandoned by his wife and finds himself holed up in the mountain home of a famous artist, Tomohiko Amada. When he discovers a previously unseen painting in the attic, he unintentionally opens a circle of mysterious circumstances. To close it, he must complete a journey that involves a mysterious ringing bell, a two-foot-high physical manifestation of an Idea, a dapper businessman who lives across the valley, a precocious 13-year-old girl, a Nazi assassination attempt during World War II in Vienna.

Narrator and pockets of story plot

Hodgepodge scenes combined into a book. I want to like this author- there is something warm about his work- however, I struggled with the length of this book, some of the male author’s audacity with female maturation, and I’m slightly uncomfortable with his intimacy writings- a bit jarring/over written. The book does flow conversation well, as an art form, and leaves some lasting image impressions so I can’t help but give a strong rating.

Story
No stranger to wildlife, Nick Jans had lived in Alaska for nearly 30 years. But when one evening at twilight a lone black wolf ambled into view not far from his doorstep, Nick would finally come to know this mystical species - up close as never before. A Wolf Called Romeo is the remarkable story of a wolf who returned again and again to interact with the people and dogs of Juneau, living on the edges of their community, engaging in an improbable, awe-inspiring interspecies dance and bringing the wild into sharp focus.

I am in awe of this audiobook experience. The author’s prose is outstanding. I have no idea how the Wolf remains so captivating while staying elusive in character throughout the story. Immortal Romeo. This book is a must for life’s journey!
