Story
In the unbearable heat of another sultry Washington, D.C., summer, a serial killer is on the loose. Dr. Tess Court, one of the capital’s most successful psychiatrists, wants nothing to do with the case—until the police convince her to lend a hand to the lead investigator, legendary ladies’ man Detective Ben Paris. Scarred by his family’s history, Ben has even less use for shrinks than Tess has for him—but the forces of animal magnetism and a shared desire to catch the demented criminal known as “The Priest” inexorably erode the walls they’ve built.

Excellent story!

I truly enjoyed this story. Another excellent summer read by Nora Roberts. I have just finished the second book," Brazen Virtue"' in this series and am hoping there will be more.
My only negative comment concerns the voices used for the detectives. Not sure what techniques were used to make the detectives 'talk' but the performance of their voices made them sound like preteen boys dealing with their voices changing. Obviously, not what you want tough, romantic detectives to sound like!

Story
Murphy Shepherd has made a career of finding those no one else could - survivors of human trafficking. His life’s mission is helping others find freedom...but then the nightmare strikes too close to home. When his new wife, her daughter, and two other teenage girls are stolen, Murphy is left questioning all he has thought to be true. With more dead ends than leads, he has no idea how to find his loved ones. After everything is stripped away, love is what remains. Hope feels lost, but Murphy is willing to expend his last breath trying to bring them home.

Not worth your time

Sorry to say this was not at all worth the time I spent trying to see if the story would improve. The egotistical writer, who wrote this in the first person, spent most of the book regaling us with his exceptional survival skills. Very little of the book actually covered the ways the young victims are rescued. I am not interested in gore or overdone explanations of abuse but did want to hear more about actually rescuing these children who are victims of sex trafficking. I simply gave up.

Berlin, 1938. It’s the height of summer, and Germany is on the brink of war. When fledgling reporter Georgie Young is posted to Berlin, alongside fellow Londoner Max Spender, she knows they are entering the eye of the storm. I seldom submit reviews but must for this book. I found the story exciting, the performance excellent and simply was sad when the book came to an end. Truly a must read/listen!

An Oustanding book

Simply an outstanding account of the Natzi occupation of Rome, Italy during WW II and their horrific treatment of the Jews living there. The story is historically accurate and very well written. The narration was just excellent. I do highly recommend this audible book.
