Story
Hannah is not human, and she's not sure what will happen when she stops pretending otherwise. Still stuck in a slowly mutating body on Earth and still waking up in a fantasy world whenever she sleeps, Hannah's stress continues to mount every single day. As magic continues to spread to her friends—whether they like it or not—Hannah is forced to confront what that magic means about her and what her terrifying Goddess wants her to do with it.

An amazing second volume
Reviewed: 06-13-24
I really like bioshifter, it feels like an incredibly personal and well-thought-out take on the fantasy genre, eager to push outside of the normal conventions and to show those things that make it special or deeply personal.
As a "sequel"/second volume, I think it is better than first one, as I feel it explores more the relationships presented and builds on the groundwork stablished at the beggining.
I have some things I don't really like about it tho.
The dialog feels good most of the times, but there are moments where it is super akward.
There are also other things, like the handelling of mental health (which at least for me it's good), but most of the things that were awkward in the first volume are ironed here.
In conclusion, I think that if you went through the first volume and you like it, you should grab this one, it just gets better.

Story
Heather Morell is haunted. Otherworldly nightmares and monstrous hallucinations lurk around every corner, relics of childhood bereavement and schizophrenia. Until she meets Evelyn and Raine—a bad-tempered mage and her self-proclaimed bodyguard—and learns that she’s not insane after all. The monsters she sees are all too real, the god-thing in her nightmares is teaching her the secrets of creation, and her twin sister—the lost girl who supposedly never existed—might still be clinging on, a dwindling soul somewhere beyond the walls of reality, Outside.

this is a weird one

I really liked this audiobook, although it really is a diferent thing.
It can have real elements of existencial horror and gore.
And it also can have heavy elements of lesbian romance and YA themes.
However, I wouldn't classify Katalepsis to belong to any genre. I feel it is a very geunine story from the part of the creator, with whatever the writer wanted to include without thinking about fullfiling the structure of any given genre, and I really like it.
It is original, creative, and solid on its own vibe, but this requires somewhat of a predisposition or having the will to have a little leeway on certain things that might be too weird, like some parts with the romance or drama.
This is a series that might bot be for everyone, but if you don't mind lgbt content fused with lovecraftian magic, then I think you'll love it, I know I do.
