Historia
In the 25th century, humankind has spread throughout the galaxy, monitored by the watchful eye of the U.N. While divisions in race, religion, and class still exist, advances in technology have redefined life itself. Now, assuming one can afford the expensive procedure, a person's consciousness can be stored in a cortical stack at the base of the brain and easily downloaded into a new body (or "sleeve") making death nothing more than a minor blip on a screen.

Good Solid SF
Revisado: 12-24-11
This is good stuff. Great premise, sound reading, terrific cast of characters, solid story, satisfying ending and a promise of more. Gritty hard hitting action in a future that is enough fiction to be fun and scary at the same time. I enjoyed this listen and I am looking forward to the next two books in the series.

Historia
In the year 2045, reality is an ugly place. The only time Wade Watts really feels alive is when he’s jacked into the OASIS, a vast virtual world where most of humanity spends their days. When the eccentric creator of the OASIS dies, he leaves behind a series of fiendish puzzles, based on his obsession with the pop culture of decades past. Whoever is first to solve them will inherit his vast fortune—and control of the OASIS itself.

Why Did I Like This Book?
Revisado: 12-24-11
But I did! The premise is a bit lame and the story is not world shattering, but I found myself totally enveloped in it. I would think about the plot whilst going to sleep and I got involved in a way that transcends what should have been an ordinary story. I kept finding excuses to listen on. Wil's narration was not quite up to "Agent to the Stars", but once again, he does a very good job. I will continue to pick books that he has chosen to read aloud. I am not a gamer, but I did enjoy this listen.

Historia
The two-time Hugo Award-winner expands the universe of his Coyote saga. The danui, a reclusive arachnid species considered the galaxy's finest engineers, have avoided contact with the Coyote Federation. Until, that is, the danui initiate trade negotiations, offering only information: the coordinates for an unoccupied world suitable for human life - a massive sphere, composed of billions of hexagons.

Not Up to Previous Novels
Revisado: 11-22-11
I enjoyed the previous novels in the Coyote series, but I found this one to be a disappointment. I found the old narrator detracted from the story telling, so I was pleased that a new person was doing the reading. But that is were the praise ends. The story was a great idea, but poorly told. The characters were all idiots and they kept on doing the stupidest things. I could tell what was going to happen next because of this. The events in the story were mostly just cobbled together, wasting the terrific venue that Steele created. Only buy this book to complete your series, do not start here.

I really enjoyed most of the shorts in this book. I really liked Kress' "Shiva in Shadow", followed closely by "The Political Officer" and "Mayflower II". The only reason I do not give this a five is for "The Tomb Wife". I enjoy short stories as a break from full novels, the format gives both author and reader a chance to explore new areas.
