Story
Athanasios “Athan” Bakirtzis has made it far in life relying on his charm and good looks, even securing an invitation to a mysterious penthouse soiree for New York City’s artsy elite. But when he sneaks off to the bathroom, he hears a slam, followed by a scream. Athan peers outside, only to be pushed back in by a boy his age. The boy gravely tells him not to open the door, then closes Athan in. Outside the door, the party descends into chaos

Decent if predictable story line
Reviewed: 04-30-24
Decent story, keeps attention relatively well characters a little one dimensional and the main character, Athan, is a bit whiney. Overall it is a good listen/book, I enjoyed it but I wouldn't call it a horror or thriller novel.

Story
Back in the summer of 1988, a young Richard Chizmar was catapulted into the center of a living nightmare as the serial killer Joshua Gallagher—dubbed by the media as “The Boogeyman”—stalked his tranquil Maryland town. A lot has changed in the intervening years. These days, Chizmar enjoys a certain level of celebrity and notoriety himself, being the only person that an incarcerated Josh Gallagher will speak to on or off the record.

Moderately better than chasing the boogeyman
Reviewed: 01-07-24
The story was more entertaining and not such a slog though but the narrator is still just as hard to listen to. Overall I enjoyed this one more than Casing the Boogeyman but I can't say I'll bother to listen to or read it again.

Narrator is the only worth while part of this book
Reviewed: 06-14-23
Romanticized domestic abuse. Don't waste your time. The narrator is the only decent part of the book. Characters are not likable, and the story is predictable. It wouldn't be out of place in a wanna be edgy high school freshman's writing collection.

Story
Early in 1968, a nuclear-armed Soviet submarine sank in the waters off Hawaii, hundreds of miles closer to American shores than it should have been. Compelling evidence strongly suggests that the sub sank while attempting to fire a nuclear missile.

Seems like the reader never read out loud before.

Reader was very robotic, often times it was distracting. I am unsure if it was an editing error or if that was genuinely the best take. Overall interesting story, but bad story telling.

Inaccurate and lackluster
Reviewed: 01-06-21
The Greek Mythology is so inaccurate and poorly pieced together its almost insulting to the reader/listener. The remaining Mythology books do not retell the myths from the cultures. Instead they describe the importance of the mythology to the culture and include some mythological stories. Largely a disappointment. The narrator seems to loose their place in reading the stories several times and repeats sentences frequently. the performance is largely monotonous and does no mercy to any of the stories.
I hate to say it but, do yourself a favor and find Mythology anthologies not written by Scott Lewis.

Not great, but not awful either.

It could be the Narrator I found issue with but some of the stories tried to hard to be scary, but not bad overall. Some of the stories have a good creep factor where as others just seem like incomplete thoughts.
