The work is put together from, among other sources, diaries and papers of the main personalities. It gives a vivid look at the beginnings of the Civil War and why things happened as they did.

Those who are looking for a truly funny, sharp edged book will find themselves satisfied by the most non-woke work of the 1980s. The author’s reading makes it all ring true.

We’ll written and told in detail, this is a book worth listening to. It documents the rise and fall of the KKK in Indiana during the 1920s and early 1930s, a story left out of most history books.

Ms . García’s ignorance of Spanish pronunciation is astounding and it bedeviled listening to what otherwise would have been an interesting history. Accents are mere suggestion to her and her incessant rolling of inexistente Rea changes the meaning of words. This work required a narrator who could efficiently cross from English to Spanish and who had some knowledge of Mexican place names.

The story itself is great, but the author repeats the “passing” theme so many times that I was almost inclined to skip ahead. The choice of narrator was unfortunate since the book contains many Spanish names, phrases and words, which are often mispronounced, something that detracts from the listening experience, especially if you speak Spanish. Chapter 6 is the best part.
