Victim or perpetrator - this is the story behind bullying, objectification in extreme - how wealthy people and those with a belief they are above the law meet their end not through clever police work but by their own cruelty - no one wi a in this novel - it is a study of a woman’s revenge not for the wrong she has done but for the wrong that was done to her - it’s an interesting read of self loathing and pity just appear with the reality of those that are above the law - a really interesting line is how the perpetrators regard why they can not be arrested is because their companies bring in so much wealth and job creation! Enjoyable read - thought provoking and a realistic detective with issues of his own - the subject matter may not be for everyone - but it makes the reader question what really goes on and to what cruelty can man gravitate too

Like a favorite t-shirt, the book kept drawing me back, overall very enjoyable. I would say this was character over plot or story. Allow yourself, as a reader to be drawn into the book, to become the characters (too many points of view for my own preference, but allows for us, the reader, to get the personalities of the main cast). Carefully crafted and curated characters with well created personal arcs (this would make for good tv) - the story was ok and as I mentioned more like a favorite sweater, something you keep coming back to - its a miss marple, a midsummer murder mystery. An idyllic POV where the murders are secondary to the characters - the thing is, I feel comfortable with them, ensconced in their circle of friendship. I feel that I know them, and want to know them. It makes for a pleasant change. I Would definitely read more ( and have purchased the rest of the series, for those days I want to step from the harsh realities of modern life and lose myself)
Ps, I hear theirs a vacancy coming up for a flat in coopers hill - I just may purchase it and move in….(you’ll need to read the book to understand)

If you liked the movie versions, then these are a great supplement. They are written in the vein dashiel intended, ie hard boiled with overly humorous banter - it’s a peek back into yesteryear and harmless fun

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

It's Bond, the first film, the sixth book. Flemming has found Bond's voice and character - Simon Vance does a great job in recreating the mood of the book, and has the laconic sixties radio voice that this book deserves.
I'm a great Bond fan, but you don't need to be an aficionado to enjoy it. Flemming lets us become voyeurs to a far different time period, a time of blatant heterosexuality. The book was heavily criticized upon it's release, but this is Bond, pure and Simple.
