There was not one surprise in this book. Every twist was telegraphed. The 20 year old heroine felt like a teenager throughout the book, which made the sex scenesveryuncomfortable. As someone with severe joint issues, I can attest that her disability wasn't properly depicted. And the love story felt forced. I guarantee she'll spend book 2 "trying to get back in touch with her powers" which will be tedious. I didn't love the book, but I can honestly say I didn't hate it either.

Books 1 and 2 were amazing. This book all of a sudden became all porn all the time. I don't mind sex scenes but that is not what I read epic fantasy for. It was the equivalent of adding too much salt to the soup. Hopefully book 4 is better.

146 Hours and 6 Credits I will Never Get Back

The upside is that Finty Williams is now one of my favorite narrators.

However this 6 book 146 hour series desperately needed an editor to help condense it down to a tightly plotted effective 3 book series. It was long. It rambled *forever.* There were entire plot lines and characters that were completely extraneous to the plot. And it all relied on one of the worst and most tired tropes ever. I should have quit as soon as brain washing entered the story. I would have saved myself 4 credits.

There were some clever and unique ideas. I think the author could be very successful if they ever learn to edit.

Brainwashing? Really? Ugh. Separating an established couple through magical brainwashing... Who couldn't see that plot point coming a mile away. And to add extreme insult to injury you left it unresolved Book one was amazing. Very well done. Book two has almost convinced me not to try Book three.

Ohmygarbage - looked ahead and it looks like this bogus BS lasts past book 4 into book 5! I can't even with this...

I really enjoy the story, but the narration is making me crazy. The narrator has a very flat voice and pauses often and at odd times, very reminiscent of Willaim Shatner's emoting. It continually pulls me out of the story and is ruining the experience for me. I love the author so much that I endeavored and will keep the book, but I will not buy any additional titles in this series unless the narrator changes.

Maybe I was just spoiled with the Jacky Leon series. I really wish Savannah Gilmore had done both series.

The story was extremely predictable and trope ridden. The heroine constantly needed rescuing. The main couple spend the majority of the book apart. The antagonist was permitted to do horrific things to the heroine but he didn't pay in kind and the heroine didn't get her moment in the sun where she achieves justice against the antagonist because "It's hard to kill a person, snookums." She was strong enough to endure and survive her trials but not strong enough to pull the trigger herself? Oh please. *eyeroll* The hero constantly abandoned the heroine and that fact was never even addressed, let alone justified or made up for.

If the hero and his friends didn't grow up in the MC lifestyle, and the H was actually adverse to it after his experience with his mother's boyfriend, why were they so ready to adopt every single Sons of Anarchy biker trope? Dear Lord that was ridiculous.

On the bright side Crystal Boudet was a gem. She made the book worth listening to even if the plot was average.

Beautifully written prose tells a complex story of a wife and mother who has to deal with death, life,, and relationships while also dealing with the supernatural. I adored this book long before the movie was a blip on Hollywood's radar and I kind of wish they'd never discovered it. The well acted audiobook only accents the story.
