Story
Leigh Collier has worked hard to build what looks like a normal life. She has a good job as a defense attorney, a daughter doing well in school, and even her divorce is relatively civilized - her life is just as unremarkable as she’d always hoped it would be. But Leigh’s ordinary life masks a childhood that was far from average...a childhood tarnished by secrets, broken by betrayal, and finally torn apart by a devastating act of violence.

My least favorite of all her books!
Reviewed: 09-18-23
I’m a true Karin Slaughter fan, I immensely enjoy all of her work, but I felt this book was written with an agenda. Did she have a certain word count that she needed to reach? Is that why she decided to add Covid into her story? I felt her writing was extremely one-sided and extreme. Using terms like “mask-hole” etc was not necessary and only detracted from the story. If I had known beforehand that there would be so much unnecessary info, I would have skipped this book. Most of us use books as an escape into another world, and this one got me angry and annoyed more so than anything else.

I pretty much guessed the story ending right away, which was disappointing. There were lots of side stories that didn’t make sense as the author barely touched on them.

Story
On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.
