Historia
Captain Axel Finn has spent his life running salvage missions with an alien crew and their war bot. This motley group has found refuge on his ship from their own tumultuous pasts. But little do any of them know, beneath his gentle demeanor, their steadfast captain is far from the peace following, adventure seeking giant of a man they all love. His pacifist ethos meant to safeguard them has edged them to the brink of financial ruin and drawn dangerous enemies.

Wait? Haven't I heard this before?
Revisado: 03-21-25
This story is a mishmash of stories that have been done before. I must have rolled my eyes a dozen times by chapter 2. Authors need to really be particular with their narrators. They can sell your subpar story if delivered right. Unfortunately this narrator is as dull and tired as this story.

Nothing but Filler, lacks substance
Revisado: 03-15-25
could not finish this book. There is no story. 7 chapters in and its just mundane activity after activity interspersed with random killing of animals. I'm bored senseless. The narrator is better suited to reading Children's books. Hes too grandpa reading to me at bedtime in his cadence and delivery. I literally could tune out the past hour of this book and not feel like i missed anything. I love litRPG and this book was highly recommended, but I struggle to find out why and after 2 hours nothing has changed. I'm still stuck with an uninteresting main character who is still sitting in the same spot he fell into in the first 30 minutes.

Helldivers just Is Not For Me
Revisado: 07-08-24
I tried to give this series a solid go. I made it through 4 books, but it really reads like a story written by a high-school writing level. I'm not connected to any characters. After four books they could all die and I wouldn't care. The whole radioactive earth with airship in the air for 250 years is such a huge suspension of disbelief that you have to sell it with at bare minimum likeable characters. The story is a hard sell and I'm not sold and that's fine. I just cannot invest more time in it. I am also not a fan of RC Bray as a narrator. His voice is nails on a chalkboard for me, but EVERYONE in the postapocalyptic category seems to love using hom, which sucks for me because I avoid him like the plague. He has no emotion in his reading. It's like my 90 year old smoker grandpa being forced to read a bedtime story. Best of luck to the author. Improve your character development. Do better at telling your story, by researching the subject a little more. There are too many holes in what you are trying to sell.

BORING
Revisado: 05-07-24
I've never been so bored by an apocalypse novel in all my life. This book was on my radar for a while, and the reviews are pretty positive, but I struggle to figure put why? I kept hoping this would pick up, but the entire sum of at least the first book is just 2 guys being perpetually drunk and "scavenging". Zero character development unless Alcoholic is all you are going for. I honestly could care less if any of these characters make it. If the author spent half as much time developing a character as these characters did getting drunk, then maybe he'd have a better story. Book 1 in the Omnibus is where this story dies for me.

An ending that leaves you sullen
Revisado: 03-14-24
I really really hope this is not the end of the series. I feel like it was just getting started and suddenly full stop. This author is amazing and I've devoured nearly every book, but this one left me sullen and disappointed. I mean if it is the end then I guess my 3 star for story is an accurate of a portrayal on how series went for me personally.

Historia
In the beginning, the gods destroyed the world. Five hundred years later, things haven’t gotten much better for humans. The demigods that were left behind to guard over humanity have been using them as fodder for an endless civil war between themselves, and the humans just go on dutifully slaughtering each other, battle after battle. It’s not all bad, though. Perry McGown makes his living off those bloody, stinking battlefields. He works on a crew that reclaims all the spent shell casings. But if anyone found out that he was a deserter from the war, he’d be executed for heresy.

Can't Go Wrong with DJ Molles!
Revisado: 12-15-23
I have yet to read a book of his that I haven't loved! I enjoy post apocalyptic style fiction. It's my absolute favorite genre. From his Remaining series, Lee harden, and his most recent Ash and Blood I've been entertained thoroughly. I wasn't sure how this series was going to play out and I'd been hesitant to start it, but I thought has he let you down yet and that was a huge resounding Nope not Yet! And he continues to keep me engaged! His character development has always been top notch. Even his peon characters are well developed! His gift at story telling always leaves me looking for more and my jaw drops at the way he can churn out these amazing and engaging stories of Humanity fighting through these crazy scenarios.

Historia
In retreat from a devastating loss and crushing injustice, Katie lives alone in a fortresslike stone house on Jacob’s Ladder island. Once a rising star in the art world, she finds refuge in her painting. The neighboring island of Ringrock houses a secret: a government research facility. And now two agents have arrived on Jacob’s Ladder in search of someone—or something—they refuse to identify. Although an air of menace hangs over these men, an infinitely greater threat has arrived, one so strange even the island animals are in a state of high alarm.

Filler with little Substance
Revisado: 03-11-23
It has been 25 years since I read a Dean Koontz novel and this is not the author I remember. This story has so much Filler that it's almost like it was written by an AI. The monster was laughable. I felt no horror nor true care about any of the incredibly unlikable characters. the backstory contributes NOTHING to the story. in fact o struggle to even find a story in this mess. the narrator has two voice modes, campfire story and ASMR whisper mode. I hated all of this book. I finished it and wish I had stopped two chapters in when my brain was telling me this book sucks and it did suck....royally.

What An Adventure
Revisado: 03-01-23
I really thoroughly enjoyed this story. I've read every Pendergast novel, and while some outshine others, the story of Leng has always stuck with me. RIP Smith back. *tears*. I gave this book 4 stars on the story aspect because, as a reader, I prefer a story to be thoroughly fleshed out. This was chopped in half. I'd much rather had a full born out tale than this abrupt end when things were just getting started. We are willing to wait for a juicy fat Pendergast novel than what we were delivered with this sampling. So, I do appreciate the author apology at the end.

GOES NOWHERE
Revisado: 02-16-23
it's a giant prologue. The story acts like it wants to go somewhere, but never really does. characters are one dimensional. I felt no attachment to any of them save for Glen. the ending is abrupt and unfulfilled. narration was the only redeeming part of this ... whatever it is...
