Friends with benefits. That’s all Ashlyn wanted with Slate. They were certainly combustible in the bedroom, and that was sufficient...wasn’t it? Yes, definitely. He was too bossy. Too protective. She didn’t want someone hovering, wanting to know her every move and telling her she was too reckless. But then again, knowing someone cared enough to worry about her felt kind of nice. Not to mention the more she was around Slate, and the more she learned about him, the harder it was to ignore her feelings.

There was a few times during the first 43 or 44 chapters of this book that I found myself wondering how this book had gotten all the 5 star reviews, but then BAM! I was completely sucked in! When I got to the last 12 or so chapters, I could totally understand how When Ashes Fall received all the 5 star reviews! Be sure to grab a box of kleenex & hold on tight because this book is one heck of an emotional ride.

Another great series from Susan Stoker!

I can't wait for the next book in this series (or any of Susan's series!) I've been on a Susan Stoker audiobook binge since May 2nd and I've loved every second of the past 10 weeks! Susan's Mountain Mercenaries series hooked me and I couldn't stop until I had went thru every one of her Seal, Delta, Texas Heroes and Ace Security series! I love how they're all interconnected and you get peeks of some of your favorites from other series. Susan Stoker has built a helluva world with all of her hot alpha heros and I've loved all the heroine's in each of her books too. I've had a total blast escaping into Susan's books the last 2 months and 6 days and I'm honestly sad that I can't just one-click the next audiobook and find out what Phantom, Lefty, Brain and Oz are up to. I'm REALLY excited for her Silverstone series and I'm hoping I get to learn how Bull and his team tortured the hell out of del Rio before they killed him down in Lima, Peru.
If you haven't read (or listened 😉) to any of Susan Stoker's books yet, don't wait another day before you dive into her world!!

But I'm not crazy about the hero's voice in the audiobook. i think the female's voice is great but his voice sounds like an older guy to me. i hate saying that because I'm not sure who Jeremy York is or how old he is.

I loved listening to this short 30 minute story. It was Ansel's POV of the morning after their crazy night in Vegas & the man that narrates it has a French accent which makes it makes it even better in my opinion.
The story isn't anything particularly new but hearing "Ansel" say the words was great! I loved it and I feel like it totally worth buying if you're an Ansel fan. ☺
