Story
Detective Sergeant Chris Waters got the call at 05.29 that July morning. This is it, said DCI Reeve, you'll be first there, it's all yours, you're the crime scene manager. Suddenly, after months of waiting and wondering, Waters finds himself in at the deep end, and alone at the scene of a puzzling murder. As the investigation proceeds, the detectives at Kings Lake Central find themselves visiting familiar places and talking to some familiar faces, while old enmities reappear in the incident room. Before this is over, Chris Waters will need to make a career-changing decision.

Story
What do we owe the past? How to make peace with a dark family history? Burkhard Bilger hardly knew his grandfather growing up. His parents immigrated to Oklahoma from Germany after World War II, and though his mother was an historian, she rarely talked about her father or what he did during the war. Then one day a packet of letters arrived from Germany, yellowing with age, and a secret history began to unfold.

Complexity of history and exploration of one man’s involvement as a Nazi
Reviewed: 11-29-23
The author’s narrative by telling the story through his grandfather’s different identities was compelling. As a Jew, I have been taught to harshly condemn all Germans and all who were complicit in the Holocaust but this story demonstrates how difficult it was for the German people as well. While explaining why his grandfather ended up embracing Nazism, it doesn’t answer how we can prevent such ideologies in the future from taking root. That question to me is the harder one-but first if we can understand on an individual level these behaviors perhaps we can continue the work of preventing war and discrimination with more knowledge behind us…..

Story
Leo Tolstoy's classic story of doomed love is one of the most admired novels in world literature. Generations of readers have been enthralled by his magnificent heroine, the unhappily married Anna Karenina, and her tragic affair with dashing Count Vronsky.

Great story well told!

Loved this classic and couldn’t believe how modern it was in sensibility and ideas. Narrator was excellent but occasionally difficult to distinguish who was speaking. I do listen at increased speed so perhaps that is my
Issue. Generally I liked the reading very well.

Interesting story about #metoo is lied by Brett Kavanaugh story
Reviewed: 07-24-22
Really enjoyed this story which reminded so much of the story of Brett Kavanaugh and what he had alleged done in high school told from many different points of view. What are we responsible for and how do we atone? Wish the husband character was portrayed a little more. Sympathetically but on the other hand perhaps a teenage rapist cannot be portrayed sympathetically. The story kept me interested but when I compare to Beartown which had similar storyline and theme, I think that the latter made you at least feel for that character. I just found the Hal character to be too unlikeable to believe that Daisy would have actually put up with him for as long as she did..

Story
In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

I loved Trevor Noah’s storytelling in this memorable book. He really gives the listener a great understanding of growing up in South Africa. There were moving moments and laugh out loud moments-so many interesting and relatable moments and his voice is honest.
