Story
Nathan and his companions are free. For now. They're trapped inside the fortress-city of Halsmet, and every mage of Giantsrest is hunting for them. Luckily enough, they've been found by Faline, the shapeshifting leader of the Assassins of Gemore. She's pledged to teach Nathan her deadly trade. How far will he go to fight the empire of slavers? How much murder is justified? Even if they manage to win this fight against Giantsrest, it won't be the end of the conflict. A Questor from ages past lurks in the heart of the Ascendent Academy, and he won't allow Giantsrest to suffer a defeat.

Books are getting shorter with more filler
Reviewed: 08-30-24
1st book was phenomenal, but this book had 1 hour of status review sheets, useless filler and is over 4 hours shorter than the first book.

Story
Ruwen survived Legion’s Fifth Vault with devastating consequences. His escape flung him far from home, severing his connection to Uru. Even his Void Band, with its link to the Black Pyramid, no longer works. Isolated, with no obvious path back, he must learn new skills or die here. For the first time, Ruwen can access his Core without worrying about discovery, and the work started in the Spirit Realm creating spells can finally continue. But that alone will not be enough, and he carefully explores the power of the mysterious Architect Role passed to him by the Goddess Uru.

Seriously it’s basically a training montage… after the first 20 the story picks back up and moves along great.

It should be father of cringe RPG

First book was amazing and had so much potential.
Now it’s a book that laughs at cripple fights and dead peoples breasts.
The MC goes from hating rapists to making tape jokes.
Don’t invest any more time into this series. From reviews of the rest of the books it’s a downward spiral.

Great series but, the new narrator seems like he is trying to read as fast and blandly as possible…
