When she begins Riverside Preparatory Academy, the private school her father has swept her into in The Hamptons, she hopes for a fresh start. Get over the narration, it’s well worth it!
Reviewed: 08-17-23
I spent way too many chapters in the beginning debating whether the narrator was automated or not or some combination thereof. But you get used to her after a while. It hasn’t even been a month, and I’m already rereading the first few books because holy cow they are that good. I am waiting on credits to binge the rest of the series because I know once I start the second arc, I’m not going to want to stop.

Another Excellent Book

I decided to pick up one “The 30 Greatest Orchestral Works” on a whim. I didn’t realize what I was getting myself into. “How to Listen to and Understand Great Music” was just as awesome as my first Robert Greenberg book. He is wildly interesting to listen to, engaging and informative. I have learned so much about music and interesting music history facts. The author makes the topic compelling. His enthusiasm for the top is abundantly apparent; a truly special teacher.

Audiobook Format Used to its Best Advantage

Wow, chalked full of music, interesting facts, historical background, and brimming with personality. I have been meaning to try a Great Course audiobook for sometime, and couldn't have chosen a better starting point. The author and narrator both samples the music, and breaks it down for listeners, making it extremely easy for someone with one music appreciation class too many years ago to count to follow along. I found the audiobook to be engaging and even humorous. Now, if you will excuse me, I will be working my way through the entirety of the author's other works. Cheers

PLEASE FIX QUALITY ISSUES!!!
Reviewed: 04-17-22
At one point earlier in the book, the narration abruptly cut off, and then repeated itself. Wierd, but one oversight in editing I can deal with. nothing was really lost, just jarring to listen to. now, at 12:27, the audio skips, not once, not twice, but three times. At first i thought it was my internet, as I am streaming over Alexa. But rewinding it still skipped at the same place. I tried playing it on my phone next, where it is downloaded, and it still skipped in the same exact places. I tried on my PC, on my iPad. The issue is a constant on them all. Disappointing. what am I missing during these skips? Entire words are clearly missing. I think I still have 14 hours to go, how many more issues lie in wait?

Worth the Read

The narration was fabulous. This story kept me guessing from start to finish. I don't know where the series is going, but, boy, what a ride. The author writes well, and I enjoyed his world building. Several parts had me feeling quite queasy with his detailed descriptions. I genuinely enjoyed this story, once I got past all the cursing.

Sub-par Narration
Reviewed: 04-25-21
The narrator offer struggles and stumbles over
words, when he is not mispronounced them outright. I found this extremely distracting, and it definitely took away from my enjoyment of the book. I originally purchased this as an audio-sync, however this feature stopped working several hours in and neither I nor the customer service/technical support could get it working again. I had to finish this book as solely an audiobook. Had I not been so far into the book I would have found a version with a better narrator.

Not the best Narration
Reviewed: 09-17-20
The story was unique, but the narrator was not the best. She sounded like she was having a hard time reading, pausing between each word some times. She just didn't have a flow. Her accent was pretty though. She also didn't read with emotion appropriate to the character speaking.

Incorrect Narration

The narrator pronounces words wrong, and outright misreads them frequently. I purchased the whispersinc version, so it was blatantly obvious when he was making a mistake.
