Story
In 1989 Ken Follett astonished the literary world with The Pillars of the Earth, set in 12th-century England. Readers and listeners ever since have hoped for a sequel. At last, here it is. Although the two novels may be listened to in any order, World Without End also takes place in Kingsbridge, two centuries after the townspeople finished building their exquisite Gothic cathedral. The cathedral is again at the center of a web of love and hate, greed and pride, ambition and revenge.

Too much vulgarity, not enough history
Reviewed: 07-22-23
The description led me to believe the book was more of a historical novel but only about an hour in I was already disgusted with the author's need to write about illicit sex in a way that, in my opinion, added absolutely nothing to the storyline. Conversely if written about in far less detail it would have added far more interest to the characters.
Disappointed that I wasted the time and the credit on this book.

Story
This lush novel, set in 1766 England and America, evokes an era ripe with riot and revolution, from the teeming streets of London to the sprawling grounds of a Virginia plantation. Mack McAsh burns with the desire to escape his life of slavery in Scottish coal mines while Lizzie Hallim is desperate to shed a life of sheltered subjugation to her spineless husband. United in America, their only chance for freedom lies beyond the Western frontier - if they're brave enough to take it.

Wasted Credit
Reviewed: 01-08-23
Looking for historical fiction I spent a credit on this Follett novel. After the third sleezy sex scene when only a short way into the book I removed it from my library and feel cheated of the credit. Pure junk! So if you're looking for quality historical fiction, don't waste your money on Follett's writing. Sad!!!

this book was a rich story that was very believable. The characters were well-developed, and the descriptions never became tedious. The narrator was excellent. Hoping to find more from this author and narrator.

Story
A single mother turns up dead at the bottom of the river that runs through town. Earlier in the summer, a vulnerable teenage girl met the same fate. They are not the first women lost to these dark waters, but their deaths disturb the river and its history, dredging up secrets long submerged. Left behind is a lonely 15-year-old girl. Parentless and friendless, she now finds herself in the care of her mother's sister, a fearful stranger who has been dragged back to the place she deliberately ran from - a place to which she vowed she'd never return.

Narrator Made It Impossible to Continue
Reviewed: 01-13-15
I really tried to stick with this book because I listened to Cold Shot first and really liked the story and narrator. But this narrator had me pounding the steering wheel and yelling "Stop reading like you're giving an oral report in FOURTH GRADE."
I thought it might get better - it didn't. I thought I could get used to it - I couldn't. So now I'm frustrated that I wasted my time and a book credit. UGH
