Loved This Series!
Reviewed: 12-20-24
This plot of this story is similar to The Hobbit in many ways, but with very different world building and relatable characters. So much fun to experience the growth the main character goes through during this novel and throughout the series. His struggles and his growth is very relatable even though the world is fictional. The adventures in each book is so fun to experience with the main character. You almost wish you were there with him. The reader was fantastic. If you like Brandon Mull’s Fablehaven and Dragon Watch, you will recognize the readers.

Something was coming. Arlo felt certain about that. For Arlo Finch and the Rangers of Pine Mountain Company, summer camp is more than canoeing and hiking. It's also a chance to search for ancient forest spirits and discover mysterious messages encoded in tree bark. But when Arlo and his best friends Indra and Wu stumble upon clues about the long-lost Yellow Patrol, Arlo uncovers a stunning history that leads right back to his very own family.

Fun Story

I am an avid reader and love authors such asRiordin,, Rowling, Brandon Mull, Chris Colfey, etc. This series was a fun listen. The second book set up a little more of the back story and left off and a great cliffhanger. I’m excited to finish the series with the next book. Definitely recommend for those who like realistic fantasy (I know a bit of an oxymoron category, iykyk)

Like City of Ember with more story
Reviewed: 10-02-24
Great book. Good reader. The plot is the same as City of Ember, however the twists and backstory are richer and more complex. The idea of a false hero and placing people on pedestals who have done nothing to earn it rings true. There were many connections in the story between the world of Terra and our own world today. The story is wrapped up as if there may be a sequel. I really hope so! Worth a listen/read.

Story
When a mysterious little free library (guarded by a large orange cat) appears overnight in the small town of Martinville, eleven-year-old Evan plucks two weathered books from its shelves, never suspecting that his life is about to change. Evan and his best friend Rafe quickly discover a link between one of the old books and a long-ago event that none of the grown-ups want to talk about. The two boys start asking questions whose answers will transform not only their own futures, but the town itself.

It was ok.

It was a cute story. A few twists and turns, but for the most part a bit bland. No action at all. I think it’s supposed to be a mystery, but it was a bit of a let down.

Story
Magnus Chase has always been a troubled kid. Since his mother's mysterious death, he's lived alone on the streets of Boston, surviving by his wits, keeping one step ahead of the police and the truant officers. One day, he's tracked down by an uncle he barely knows - a man his mother claimed was dangerous. Uncle Randolph tells him an impossible secret: Magnus is the son of a Norse god. The Viking myths are true. The gods of Asgard are preparing for war. Trolls, giants and worse monsters are stirring for doomsday.

Terrible reader
Reviewed: 06-22-17
The reader of this book is terrible. He sounds stoned and reads with very little emotion. He reads very slow and with weird intonation. For a Riordan action book, this was disappointing. Loved this authors other books, but you should skip the audio book on this one and read it yourself.
