Story
Lucas Davenport had crossed paths with her before. A rich psychopath, Taryn Grant had run successfully for the US Senate, where Lucas had predicted she'd fit right in. He was also convinced that she'd been responsible for three murders, though he'd never been able to prove it. Once a psychopath had gotten that kind of rush, though, he or she often needed another fix, so he figured he might be seeing her again. He was right.

Story
On his last combat deployment, Lt. Cmdr. James Reece's entire team was killed in an ambush that also claimed the lives of the aircrew sent in to rescue them. But when those dearest to him are murdered on the day of his homecoming, Reece discovers that this was not an act of war by a foreign enemy but a conspiracy that runs to the highest levels of government. Now, with no family and free from the military's command structure, Reece applies the lessons that he's learned in over a decade of constant warfare toward revenge.

I found this book very good, but sad and possibly could be true. Kept my interest the whole way through. The only thing I ever have a problem with is some male narrators just can’t do a woman’s voice very convincingly.

Found it rather boring. For whatever reason this book did not hold my interest like all the others I've read by Dick Francis. It is an older book, so perhaps Francis's writing improved with time!

Liked most of the book

I enjoyed most of the book but the ending was just too rushed and throwing in too many different angles. I don’t like it when you get to know a character all the way through the book and then at the end you discover some deep dark bad secret. It just doesn’t work for me.

Story
Former LAPD lieutenant Peter Decker is relishing the quiet and slow pace of his new job with the Greenbury police department. The work is low stress and engaging, and it's been almost a year since the last murder in this sleepy upstate New York town. Then the body of a nude man is found deep within the woods, shattering Decker's peace. The death appears to be a suicide - a single shot to the head, the gun by his side. But until the coroner's ruling, the scene must be treated as a suspicious crime.

The book was OK but Peter decker needs more depth to his character and his relationship with his young side kick needs to expand and add more interest. The “old man” reference gets alittle tiring.

Story
On a chilly February night, during a screening of Psycho in midtown, someone sunk an ice pick into the back of Chanel Rylan's neck, then disappeared quietly into the crowds of drunks and tourists in Times Square. To Chanel's best friend, who had just slipped out of the theater for a moment to take a call, it felt as unreal as the ancient black-and-white movie up on the screen. But Chanel's blood ran red, and her death was anything but fictional.

Dragged on. Story started out interesting then seemed to go on and on. This is an old book of Harlan Coben so maybe that explains some of it. The actions of one of the main characters seemed too outrageous to make it even half way believable.
