Story
Once a spy for Queen Victoria, James Asher has fought for Britain on every continent, using his quick wits to protect the Empire at all costs. After years of grueling service, he marries and retires to a simple academic’s life at Oxford. But his peace is shattered one night with the arrival of a Spanish vampire named Don Simon. Don Simon can disappear into fog, move faster than the eye can see, and immobilize Asher - and his young bride - with a wave of his hand. Asher is at his mercy, and has no choice but to give his help.

Great but seemingly long.

I loved this book but it took seemingly forever even though pretty short compared to my other books. The characters are very dinamic, with a great plot twist at the end.

Story
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

When a trusted friend first suggested this book, she told me that she couldn't stop reading it because it was so gripping from the beginning. I was sceptical that a story about one man being stranded on Mars could keep my attention for an hour, much less many hours. Thankfully she was spot on.
I am not a fan of sci-fi (more non-fiction for me please) but this book may have converted me. It is a very nice blend between real life science and futuristic fantasy, and required very little suspension of disbelief on my part. Good stuff!
RC Bray did a fantastic job with the narrating. It's one of those great audio books where the narrator is more of an actor than a narrator. Bray flawlessly switches between the voices of 30+ characters and switches accents with ease. I love to read, but I would gladly listen to Brays narration over opening the book any day. Very well done.
Give this one a listen, you won't regret it.
