Story
Have you ever wondered "Why did I do that?" or "Why can't I just control my behavior?" Others may judge our reactions and think, "What's wrong with that person?" When questioning our emotions, it's easy to place the blame on ourselves; holding ourselves and those around us to an impossible standard. It's time we started asking a different question. Through deeply personal conversations, Oprah Winfrey and renowned brain and trauma expert Dr. Bruce Perry offer a groundbreaking and profound shift from asking “What’s wrong with you?” to “What happened to you?”

Story
There is a voice of longing inside each woman. We strive so mightily to be good: good partners, daughters, mothers, employees, and friends. We hope all this striving will make us feel alive. Instead, it leaves us feeling weary, stuck, overwhelmed, and underwhelmed. We look at our lives and wonder: Wasn’t it all supposed to be more beautiful than this? We quickly silence that question, telling ourselves to be grateful, hiding our discontent—even from ourselves.

Mysterious captivating tale of the 1800s
Reviewed: 08-15-19
The Signature of All Things, is a dramatic love story taking place in the 1800 when manners and expectations trump asking for what one desires. This story is about ALL kinds of love, love of a daughter, love of sisters, mothers, caretakers and physical love. Gilbert expertly weaves a historical tale of the discovery of botany across the globe when international travel could take a year. Wonderful unexpected turns and a coming together of a love triangle wraps up this tale of natural selection and how compassion plays into the survival of the fittest. Not for the short attention span.
