Historia
Few bands are as shrouded in the murky haze of rock mythology as The Doors, and parsing fact from fiction has been a virtually impossible task. But now, after 50 years, The Doors’ notoriously quiet guitarist is finally breaking his silence to set the record straight. Set the Night on Fire is packed with never-before-told stories from The Doors’ most vital years, and offers a fresh perspective on the most infamous moments of the band’s career.

Good

I enjoyed it, although the story bounces around quite a bit. I wish it was more in chronological order. Either way, it was fun learning more about the band.

Historia
Until now there hasn't been a critical, authoritative, in-depth portrait of Metallica. Mick Wall's thoroughly researched, insightful work is enriched by his interviews with band members, record company execs, roadies, and fellow musicians. He tells the story of how a tennis-playing, music-loving Danish immigrant named Lars Ulrich created a band with singer James Hetfield and made his dreams a reality.

Terrible narrator
Revisado: 02-07-23
I had to return the book. I made it about 2 hours in but I couldn’t stand the narrator. I was upset because Metallica is one of my favorite bands. Looking at other reviews it looks like I may not have missed much. Very disappointing.

Historia
One of the most tragic stories of the 1990s rock world was that of singer Shannon Hoon and his band, Blind Melon. Despite scoring one of the decade’s most enduring singles and videos, “No Rain”, and a quadruple-platinum hit with their 1992 self-titled debut album (in addition to touring alongside rock’s biggest names), Hoon could not overcome a dangerous drug addiction.

Enjoyable

I enjoyed it. I was thrown off initially when I figured out it was a collection of quotes, but that also made it interesting. You’re hearing different views on what was going on, as opposed to just view (that of the author).

A panoramic experience that tells the story of Beastie Boys, a book as unique as the band itself - by band members ADROCK and Mike D, with contributions from Amy Poehler, Colson Whitehead, Wes Anderson, Luc Sante, and more.

Loved it
Revisado: 07-19-21
As a longtime fan, this audiobook was awesome. You are immersed into their world and experience their history first-hand. One of the best features is the long list of narrators. At first it was tricky to understand who was telling the story, so you have to pay attention at the beginning of each chapter/section. But, it was cool to hear some familiar voices tell the stories.
I highly recommend this audiobook, especially if you’re new to audiobooks like me.
