it doesn't deserve a rating less than a 4. I'm not sure what's with the 3. something rating. there does seem to be some unanswered questions though. but still, I love the suspense and mystery

Story
Colonel Joe Bishop made a promise and he's going to keep it; taking the captured alien starship Flying Dutchman back out. He doesn't agree when the UN decides to send almost 70 elite Special Operations troops, hotshot pilots, and scientists with him; the mission is a fool's errand he doesn't expect to ever return from. At least, this time, the Earth is safe, right? Not so much.

this should definitely be a movie... better yet, a mini TV series. I'll be looking to see if there is a sequel. but you really become attached to the protagonist. I'll be getting more of Ms Butler's books

bcuz this read is full of priceless gems. 😂😅 While there are plenty of axioms and mantras to adopt and live by, it's clear that Willard likes talkin about himself. There's a part where Jada erupts in anger calling Will "a selfish big show of ego" or sumn like that... Yup. Still, definitely glad I got this.

Story
I played all those cool video games. I watched all those movies. I even read the books. In most of 'em, the hero shoots the bad guys, drives a sweet car, never gets hungry, and always seems to get laid by the end. Yeah. Whatever. I gotta be straight with you about why I wrote this journal, and it comes down to one thing, the apocalypse kinda sucks. It doesn’t meet my expectations at all.

Post apocalyptic books are kinda my thing. my love for that dystopian world was fueled by playing Resident Evil 25 years ago. But enough about me. I've read (or listened to) over a dozen P-A books and this may be my favorite read. Bobby is awesome. I'll definitely get another one of his books... 2 Thumbs way up. 5/5. 10/10 Loved it

Annoyed
Reviewed: 03-03-22
This story was annoying. The author seems obsessed with vomit, human excrement and flatulence. Are we 12?!?! The tangents are so in excess. but at least I know why Tommy hasn't succummed to a diabetic coma. And the banter with BT is annoying. Plus the author loves pointing out how big, black and scary he his. I get it already... YOU DON'T KNOW ANY BLACK PEOPLE!! Anyways... The stories are free so I'll give book 4 a chance to redeem the series for me. Plus, everything is well written and I've been introduced to quite a few unfamiliar words.

Story
This story picks up exactly where book one left off. The Talbot family is evacuating their home amid a zombie apocalypse. Mankind is on the edge of extinction as a new dominant, mindless opponent scours in search of food, which happens to be non-infected humans. In this book are the journal entries of Michael Talbot, his wife, Tracy, and their kids, Nicole, Justin, and Travis. With them are Brendon, Nicole's fiancee, and Tommy, previously a Wal-Mart door greeter who may be more than he seems.

Annoying
Reviewed: 02-15-22
I didn't enjoy this as much as the first. I'm terribly annoyed by Tommy. How many times can you explain this kid's eating habits? I get it, he should have diabetes and rotted teeth by now! And, too often, the arthor takes the unnecessary circuitous route on even the smallest, mundane and insignificant detail of an event that doesn't have to be told in the first place. Still, I'll be listening to, at least, 2 more books. I'm still intrigued. He's a great writer

Granted, everything hasn't been somewhat explained yet, like Tommy but this touches the surface. Also, tbh I haven't listened to Book 3 yet. I skipped that for this. I'm headed to book 3 now.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

I absolutely love this story. I "couldn't put it down! " This story had me thinking deeply about it days after I finished it. A whole lot of consideration and science went into telling this story. I didn't like the ending but that's a personal preference. it wasn't a bad ending at all. this isn't much of a review but again; I LOVE THIS STORY!!

In I’m Telling the Truth, but I’m Lying, Bassey Ikpi explores her life - as a Nigerian-American immigrant, a black woman, a slam poet, a mother, a daughter, an artist - through the lens of her mental health and diagnosis of bipolar II and anxiety. Her remarkable memoir in essays implodes our preconceptions of the mind and normalcy as Bassey bares her own truths and lies for us all to behold with radical honesty and brutal intimacy.

So like most, I first experienced her work 15 years ago or so on Def Poetry Jam. She was sensational! The way she could vividly describe the details of the most subtle things is amazing! She applies that here (when appropriate) as well. Her being reminds of Love Jones the movie: the love, lost, self-searching and literature. Anyways... I LOVED IT!
