Story
By age thirty, Stephanie Foo was successful on paper: She had her dream job as an award-winning radio producer at This American Life and a loving boyfriend. But behind her office door, she was having panic attacks and sobbing at her desk every morning. After years of questioning what was wrong with herself, she was diagnosed with complex PTSD—a condition that occurs when trauma happens continuously, over the course of years.

I was recently diagnosed with CPTSD and this book, while difficult to read at times, is immensely helpful as I navigate my way through recovery. Thank you Stephanie

Story
Sometimes you meet people who are out of this world, so you make them a part of yours. A one-night stand born from vengeance in a foreign land. An explosive chemistry neither of us could deny. We signed a contract on the back of a Boar’s Head Pub napkin that said if we ever met again, we would drop everything and be together. Eight years and thousands of miles later, he’s here. In New York. And he’s America’s music obsession.

No no no!!! That’s not how Vagina’s work!

Way too much make believe and the lead heroine is a complete idiot. There is a Mars bar scene which really “jumped the shark” and made me think the author has no idea how female anatomy works.
Two of my favorite narrators were unfortunately used for this book. I wish they could get the time it took to produce this book back.

Like reading a babysitters club book....slowwwwly

I saw and immediately downloaded this book. I love seeing POC represented in books. When I settled in to listen I found the narration incredibly slow. Reminds me of having a teacher in elementary school read to you. Not a great mix for romance. I tried speeding the listening speed but the elementary teacher vibe was still there. Also The characters were very “surface”/high level. I found it difficult to enjoy.

Predictable

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
The book was good, as an audiobook the narration by Susan Bennet was top notch, she has a clear voice with a lovely cadence. Unfortunately I found the story overly predictable. A good listen if your multi-tasking, and not fulling paying attention to the story. I'm not sure why they call this book a "Book 1". It does not appear to be a part of a series and wraps up succinctly at the end. I think this might be an audible description mis-type.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
The brother's character "Danny" is annoying and frustrating, It would be nice to see his perspective and understand his motivations since he is the pivot point in the story, Riley's patience with him is more like a parent then a sibling.

Story
Kate Hart and Dominic Knight's volatile love affair continues in the last book in the All or Nothing trilogy from C.C. Gibbs. Being tied down to just one woman was the last thing Dominic wanted. But from the moment he laid eyes on Kate, he couldn't deny his overwhelming desire for her or his need to possess her.

Terrible
Reviewed: 05-04-15
The plot is horrible. The characters are shallow. For some reason the lead is a strong willed female that looses all of her personality when she meets Dominic. He literally carries her into bed, cars, down the street. It's annoying.

The wry and the heartfelt join in David Rakoff's prose to resurrect that most neglected of literary virtues: wit. As he finds himself in all the far-flung hinterlands of our culture, this fish out of water winds up satirizing himself more than his subject matter, to hilarious effect.

What I love about this book is David's Honesty. He weaves funny tales in with painful ones. As an avid listener of TAL i enjoyed him as much throughout this book as i did, listening to his stories on the show. It was a short and great listen.
