Story
Daisy is a girl coming of age in LA in the late '60s, sneaking into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whisky a Go Go. The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it’s the rock and roll she loves most. By the time she’s 20, her voice is getting noticed, and she has the kind of heedless beauty that makes people do crazy things. Also getting noticed is The Six, a band led by the brooding Billy Dunne.

Just amazing the second time

Golly I love this book. This is my second time reading it and I have to say, my opinions have fully changed. When I first read this, I was enamored by Daisy. Not the drugs or the addiction but the carefree way she floated thru life. I simply couldn’t relate but I loved the idea.
Now, married and a little older, I am a bit more, annoyed with the idea of Daisy. She’s a girl who was rich and wasn’t denied anything and when she was, she spiraled. I loved Camilla even more this time around. I understood her more too.
The format of this book really captures my heart. I love the inconsistencies in the stories and seeing how the story unfolds from different vantage points.
Also, big BIG shout out to the audio book and my friend Fred Berman who voiced Eddie 🤍

SPOILERS AHEAD:
This story took me on a real rollercoaster. It started out with a story of a damsel in distress and the rough brother saving her. It was a very interesting to watch their friendship develop. However, I did struggle with the Theo and Kassie relationship overall. I think that may be a personal issue because I deeply loved Kassie and Jonah’s relationship. Theo loving her for so long, even while Jonah was alive somehow rubbed me the wrong way. But the way it grew organically was quite sweet. Then the meeting of Kassie and her mom at the hospital felt like a total cop out for her dads behavior. I was gonna give it only three stars but the epilogues gave me a star back. Theo and his dad in the tattoo shop and the Kassie having two little ones, bringing them to the Jonah instillation was so sweet.
