I really enjoyed this book. It was simple and fun. I like books that make me laugh and this book did that. There was a nice range of character development as well.

I enjoyed the different perspective of this book. There is a lot of information well shared that could almost make a book like this believable for those who have a deeper imagination :)

Story
In the lands of Bethel, where the Prophet's word is law, Immanuelle Moore's very existence is blasphemy. Her mother's union with an outsider of a different race cast her once-proud family into disgrace, so Immanuelle does her best to worship the Father, follow Holy Protocol, and lead a life of submission, devotion, and absolute conformity, like all the other women in the settlement. But a mishap lures her into the forbidden Darkwood surrounding Bethel, where the first prophet once chased and killed four powerful witches.

a different/new/exciting perspective
Reviewed: 09-06-19
I had worked a short time in the rescue industry about 10 years ago, for a couple years. It was the most challenging job I have ever had. I have never experienced emotion the way I did working with animals in a shelter capacity. From adoptions/surrenders/returns to euthanasia...my heart to this day still aches. While I met some amazing, strong caring people...I always felt a dark cloud loomed over me.
After hearing this book, I wish I had been exposed to the knowledge and perspective Hannah shares. I feel like this industry has come even further than when I was a part of it and while I don't think I could go back into it; I feel like maybe my heart has opened up a bit and some light has been provided to me through Hannah's experiences. Thank you Hannah!!
