Story
Every generation, a journalist has looked deep into the heart of the nuclear military establishment: the technologies, the safeguards, the plans, and the risks. These investigations are vital to how we understand the world we really live in—where one nuclear missile will beget one in return, and where the choreography of the world’s end requires massive decisions made on seconds’ notice with information that is only as good as the intelligence we have. Pulitzer Prize finalist Annie Jacobsen’s Nuclear War: A Scenario explores this ticking-clock scenario.

Amazingly descriptive, very informative.

I can certainly tell a lot of research went into writing this book. The author does not hold back when describing the gruesome details of what would happen in a nuclear attack. it should give everyone pause and a lot to think about.

Story
Millions of words have poured forth about man's trip to the moon, but until now few people have had a sense of the most engrossing side of the adventure: namely, what went on in the minds of the astronauts themselves - in space, on the moon, and even during certain odysseys on earth. It is this, the inner life of the astronauts, that Tom Wolfe describes with his almost uncanny empathetic powers that made The Right Stuff a classic.

I just could not get into this book. I don’t know if it was how it was written, or the narrator. It’s a shame because I am a huge fan of the mercury Gemini and Apollo space programs.

It's America in 1962. Slavery is legal once again. The few Jews who still survive hide under assumed names. In San Francisco, the I Ching is as common as the Yellow Pages. All because some twenty years earlier the United States lost a war - and is now occupied by Nazi Germany and Japan.

A book I couldn’t wait to finish
Reviewed: 10-28-23
This is one of those books that I struggled to get through, only so I could find out how it ends. The book had a supernatural undertone to it that made the storyline a little weird. I don’t know factually accurate the book is, especially in describing the aftermath of the nuclear attack. overall, a decent story.

A good story, but kind of a letdown. I was expecting more of a cliffhanger, a climax that’s more Grisham’s style.

The summer of 1984 was a watershed moment in the birth of modern sports when the nation watched Michael Jordan grow from college basketball player to professional athlete and star. That summer also saw ESPN’s rise to media dominance as the country’s premier sports network and the first modern, commercialized, profitable Olympics. Magic Johnson and Larry Bird’s rivalry raged, Martina Navratilova and John McEnroe reigned in tennis, and Hulk Hogan and Vince McMahon made pro wrestling a business, while Donald Trump pierced the national consciousness as a pro football team owner.

First, let me say that I admire Dick Couch for his knowledge and writing ability, not to mention his service to our country. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Act of Valor and the Warrior Ellite. This book was a little hard to get into. I think unless you have knowledge and experience in military processes and weaponry it's very easy to get lost, hard to follow.
