Two dozen Navy SEALs descended on Osama bin Laden’s compound in May 2011. After the mission, only one name was made public: Cairo, a Belgian Malinois and military working dog. This is Cairo's story, and that of his handler, Will Chesney, a SEAL Team Operator whose life would be irrevocably tied to Cairo's.

In 1995, Wilma Melville volunteered as a canine search-and-rescue (SAR) handler with her black Labrador Murphy in the aftermath of the Oklahoma City bombing. At the time, there were only 15 FEMA-certified SAR dogs in the US. Believing in the value of these remarkable animals to help save lives, Wilma knew many more were needed in the event of future major disasters. She made a vow to help 168 dogs receive search-and-rescue training in her lifetime - one for every Oklahoma City victim.

Kiku, a genetically enhanced female warrior, and Jarvan, a no longer naïve starship officer, along with their wardogs and AI companions, are tasked to bring peace to their galactic quadrant. Their AI starship destroyer and AI battle shuttle transport them to unlikely places to combat pirates, rogue AIs, bizarre aliens, and monsters beyond description. While saving their galactic quadrant, they also are gathering alien allies and bootstrapping Kiku’s home planet Elfor into modern civilization.
